author=Ephiam link=topic=1503.msg31702#msg31702 date=1221429596About Level 25. I'm leaving 25-30 as the high end enemies that are optional, but otherwise by end game they should be 20-25. I have to adjust these numbers, but yeah, 13 is about the middle range, so that doesn't make it weak. And yes, it is a Windmill, Don Quixote reference as was said earlier.
@Ocean: Oi! A hall of giants, eh? But why dowes that one looks like a windmill? Maybe I missed something in what the others were saying, but for some reason i tried to look really hard in order to see fi I could find a face or anything. >_>
Anyway, it still looks good. Great work!
And only Lv.13? How far do you think the enemies will be by a normal endgame? (Near the final boss/final dungeon)
Why (God Why) so many medieval fantasy games and so little of anything else?
Yeah, I hate those types of things. "Your character can only run for a short time before they need to catch their breath!", "One hit and your character is dead, just like real life!" and things like that really annoy me. That's not what I meant at all.

Yep, Don Quixote reference. The whole game isn't based on Don Quixote, but I had to add that there somewhere. It wouldn't leave me alone.
@Darken: They're all edits, since FF1 battle graphics are what I started the project with. The Red Mage girl is a FF5 class edit, the Fighter guy is either an FF3 or FF5 character edit, and the White Mages had some more editting done. I forget what the base one is, probably Celes from FF6 judging by the pose. I could be wrong, I'm very forgetful.
As a side note, a few turns after that screen was taken, we were brutally slain by the GIANT.

Why (God Why) so many medieval fantasy games and so little of anything else?
I forget if I posted here or not.
I actually like a Medieval setting, but I prefer a realistic one. I do not care for things like "Stamina system" and stuff, but I'd like to feel like I'm in a Medieval area (Either a Mediterranean one or a Medieval northern Europe is fine by me). I don't like elves and things like that, so I wouldn't add them. I also find a happy Modern setting to be fun to work in.
I don't have a problem with people making their game in a Medieval fantasy setting, but if they do that, I would hope that they chose it because it's what they really want to do, and not just because most other RPGs do it. Resources can be a problem, but not as much if you make your own or if you edit stuff.
It would be a nice experiment to try a setting you normally don't do, and to do some research on it for the game. That could be done in a very short game if you feel like trying it out.

Moooog: Personally, I'd probably recolor the cave walls, or leave it and maybe add an object/tile to make it more than just brown. Otherwise it looks good, just seems a bit much like a FF6 map rip to me. If that's what you're going for, then I don't object.

Since the game is inspired by FF1, I thought I'd have some GIANTs in there. And there definitely will be a hall of Giants, I just have to find where to put it.

Why RPGmaker? Why?
What? I said that I don't skip intros if I haven't seen them. That option is mainly for those who have seen it or perhaps the game is primarily gameplay based and you just want to check out the game itself and not the story. I'm pretty sure there are some players like that.

Walk speed is a killer for me. I will not play a game with slow walk speed. Other than that, a very generic story/characters will also cause me to not care, as is with slow pacing, hard difficulty, or boring gameplay. I don't need a custom battle system to like the game, I've beaten games that used the DBS. But they also had more than just "Attack, Heal, run out of MP" type of thing.
If I have not seen the intro, then I will see it. I've had someone tell me they skipped the intro and cutscenes in my game so they could try out the game itself. I don't mind them doing that. They went back in later and played with the intro/cutscenes.
Also, you need to hook me within the first five minutes. And please don't add that "DO YOU WANT TO SKIP THE INTRODUCTION?!?" to your game. Chances are, you added that because it was too long in the first place. And skipping an introduction to a game is like skipping the first chapter of a book. I can pretty much assume how an RM game is going to be just by looking at this option. Just don't do it.I would argue that the "Do you want to skip the introduction" is kinda like pressing Start or something to skip a cutscene in a game. I'd rather have that option there. Also, people tend to generally release multiple versions of their game, so I don't want to see the intro yet again. If the game is short and replayable, I also don't want to see the intro again.

I dunno how big of a Haruhi fan you are. I can't really bring myself to watch the show over again, but I liked it. I do have a lot of Haruhi pics, but mainly that's because they're really easy to find and abundant online. Not enough Mikuru.

Questions you always wanted to ask other members, but felt too lazy or awkward to do so.
Huh, never expected a question about me.
Yeah, I'll admit it, I love big breasted girls. I blame a certain girl, but I won't go in the details of that. Not anyone you people know. She's the one I based the character Angela off of in Island Sky. I'm not into flat or really skinny girls.
I don't really have anything to ask anyone else at the moment.
