That's going to get messy/take up a mess of windows when you scan an enemy with a mess of resistances. I'd suggest using icons and abbreviations. Something like
Strengths: <FireIcon>Ab <IceIcon>Im <WaterIcon>Re
Ab = Absords, Im = Immune, Re = Resists
Only potential problem would be ambiguous icons (I've never seen a good icon represent elements like Earth, Light, or Dark)
I make sure not to take up more than one line for resistances. If they resist every element, I just put: Resists all elements or something. Otherwise, I may do a Fire/Ice/Lit (50%) or something to save space. In any case, they're all common events so I can alter them anytime later without affecting the monstergroups themselves.

I don't like abbreviations though, unless it's really simple stuff like STR, DP, INT and things like that. Icons maybe. Earth does not have an element (Technically it does but it's so rarely used, I don't think the party even has an earth elemental spell), Dark is used by attack skills but is otherwise rare (And I'd say only 2 or so monsters should even resist it), Light is used by 2 spells (I'm not sure if anything even resists Light), Water is used by 1 spell, and with one exception, Water and Ice act the same. So pretty much it's just Fire/Ice/Lit that need it.

Since there is a 100% escape rate, if you had the Initative ability or NPC, you can have people with the Peep command, flee, then change it to something you'll use before the enemies even act. That isn't necessary for most battles, but is something that could be done even in some boss battles.

Testing out the Peep skill. It'll probably be used by exactly one player once, especially since it's a command rather than a spell. Oh well. It could help in boss battles though, it gives you some hints about what the boss does or how to defeat it easier. Or it would when I get up to that point, still working on monster group template things.

You can call the characters whatever you want, and you can go to Namingway in any of the towns to change it if you'd like.

Naming your characters

I first base a character on someone I know, mainly if they're an important character. If they're an unimportant character, then I won't bother. Then, I take their name, and play around with it. Since my games tend to take place in a modern time, I will go by what would sound like it'd fit in here.

So, say my friends name is Robert. I went Robert -> Bob -> Bill -> William, so the character that is based off of him is named William. Or I may use their middle name as their first name, and find a new middle name and last name. Maybe something that comes to mind that relates to it. So, another one of my friends name is Samantha, so for the character, I took a name that started with S and picked Sabrina (she also has a relative that's named this).

Otherwise, as is in the case of Paradise Blue, I look up names that would be used in a certain area. So, Portuguese and Spanish names are most frequent there, although some English names also show up in occassion. Some place names and expressions are also in Portuguese too.

There are times where I use a random name generator, but I won't ever pick stuff like "Fantasy names" "Elven names" or crap like that. I will not have a character named H'rol or anything with a ' in the middle of their name. I personally think that's stupid and every generic fantasy writer and their grandmother uses it. For fun, sometimes i'll mix names of cultures that generally don't mix, so I could have a name like Pontius Xiang and stuff like that. But this is really rare and I only do it to be silly.

The last type I use is stuff like "Robin M. Blind" "Jim Pansey" and others that have some sort of meaning that directly relates to the character and is also silly ("Hugh Jass" should be a well known one, though I wouldn't use it). It makes the already non threatening bosses even more silly.

The Sword or the Pen: Your Character's Weapon Preference in RPGs

1.. What weapon selections are available in your RPG's ?
Depends on when the game takes place. If it's not modern, then it'll likely be the typical swords, spears, maces, axes, bows and things that were used back then. If it's modern, it will instead be stuff like waterguns, volleyballs, hockey sticks, thinks like that.

2. Do you plan to break away from the stereotypical “boy with a sword” in your RPG, if so then why. If not why do you believe that a sword is a useful choice of weaponry even in an environment ruled by futuristic technology?
Paradise Blue is really sword heavy, because of FF1's influence (i.e. using their weapon list). However, normally I don't have a "boy with a sword" type of thing. Girl with a watergun or Boy with a lacrosse stick maybe. As for futuristic technology, swords wouldn't be used, but things like knives, concealed blades and others would still be very useful.

3. Why do you believe swords constantly appear with RPG's despite the innovation seen in our modern day
You rarely ever see The Legendary Axe or the Sacred Morning Star or things like that in stories. Swords have plenty of stories revolving around them, from the really well known Excalibur, to other swords such as Gram, Durendal, Caladbolg, Dainsleif, Almace, Joyeuse, and stuff like that. The legends about them are stuff like "Durendal which is so strong that when they tried to break it, it ended up breaking the rock it came from". Even spears seem to have more legends around them than axes do, so you have Longinus and Gungnir which are really well known spears.

Are you going to be happy for finishing a project that no one knows exists?
Yes, you could be. You can get a sense of accomplishment that you were able to finish the project, regardless of if anyone plays it or not. Of course, people giving you feedback on it, saying it was good and stuff helps a lot too.

I like to finish what I start, even if sometimes it does take a while. What I want to do is make a game, then try to outdo it with the next game. Or have it different enough so I learn something new. I have bunches of game ideas, and certainly the next one might look more attractive than the one you're currently working on.

But remember, you generally thought the same about the current project you started. There comes a point in the middle of the project where there is still a lot ahead of you, and you're doing the boring stuff rather than the fun planning and everything. That happens with every project. Try not to make the project too grand a scale if you know you aren't one to finish or like working on really big projects.

You can learn a lot by finishing a project.

Paradise Blue

You can't, that's pretty much where the demo ends. At that time, the castle wasn't even mapped, so after killing the archer boss there isn't all that much left to do if you did everything in the first town.

Ok, can someone flat out tell me why Japan has so many weird sexual fetishes?

Chinese use cats instead of chicken in their chinese food

100% fact

Ok, can someone flat out tell me why Japan has so many weird sexual fetishes?

Using the power of Mana a civilization had grown strong...
In time, Mana was used to create the ultimate weapon: the Mana Fortress...
This angered the gods. They sent their beasts to destroy the Fortress...
A violent war rocked the world, and Mana seemed to disappear...
Before all was lost, a hero with the Mana Sword smashed the Fortress...
Though the civilization had been destroyed, the world was peaceful again...
But time flows like a river... and history repeats...

Ok, can someone flat out tell me why Japan has so many weird sexual fetishes?

I know. But you'd have more people picking the Asian option on the "Who's More Submissive At Sex" poll than Australians and Germany (which I've never heard about them having boring, quiet women during sex)
Do people have sex with a lot of people and poll the results for this
