An FFX thread for you schmucks
Speaking about gear, I thought the weapon system was very interesting. At first, I'm wondering where the attack power values and stuff were. Eventually, I find out there were none. You can use pretty much whatever weapon you want. Brotherhood blade looks nice, so I'll use that! (It did, even had bubbles) Otherwise, you'd just go by the skills and stuff that the weapon has, such as Armor Piercing, Strength +10%, Water Elemental, stuff like that. Really neat system, which I was thinking of using for one of my projects.

I liked the general atmosphere of FFX. It was for the most part like Tropical Island type of feel, which was nice. I particularly liked Besaid and Luca. Sure I'd have liked stuff like Zanarkand city, but oh well.
It took me 30 hours to beat it. I didn't bother doing things like getting the ultimate weapons. I don't see how those are possible to get without a strategy guide, and even then sounds like it takes too much work.
I also liked the linearity of it. Sure that means I won't be replaying it for a while. But it was nice just going forward without really feeling like you're going to get lost or whatever.
I hated having to switch out characters just so they could gain EXP. It'd be better to just fight the battle instead of making characters waste a turn. Status effects were actually useful, and it did away with the dumb ATB in favor of a nice turn based system.
I also loved some of the songs, such as Besaid and Luca. Summoned Beast battle is one of my favorite battle songs.
Blah for Blitzball. I thought the idea was interesting, but you just couldn't win without abusing Jecht shot.
I personally thought it was one of the better FF's, despite its flaws. And it has Lulu. :3

GREEN.SUN AND DEMONDESTINY call-OUT
What makes you play an RPG more than once?
I replay RPGs I haven't played in a while, such as FF7, FF8, games like that. If they're short, and are customizable enough so you don't do the same thing over again, then I'll replay it. Seiken Densetsu 3 is long, but you can use multiple party types/characters so the game feels a bit different if you're using an all female party compared to an all male one, and it's also different depending on what classes you choose for them.
I replayed Chrono Trigger a bunch of times to get the endings. It's the only RPG I'll forgive for having multiple endings (normally I don't want to feel forced to replay the game, but CT is good).
Mainly, the game should let the player play the game differently the 2nd time, it should be short enough for me to want to replay it, short or skippable cutscenes, not an incredible amount of grinding required, and things like that. Things like new game + really help.

Best Boss Fights
Chrono Trigger's BlackTyrano battle. First, the countdown. I like countdown battles, it makes it feel even more like you're in a hurry to beat it. Plus, the music to that battle is one of my favorite boss themes ever.

The character art was all done in Photoshop. Well, except for the lineart, that was done on paper.
Yeah, my anatomy is still off. I had a particularly hard time with Konata, I don't normally draw lolis. But either way, I don't draw all that much so I still have much to learn.
I don't think I have the time, or I would probably make Ninja Nonsense Gaiden. But it'd be too much effort...
