QZPRODUCTIONS'S PROFILE

Just a game dev who primarily uses RPG Maker VX Ace and enjoys writing and composing the most. I love horror games, adventure games, JRPGs, and practically any game with a compelling story.

A brief description of my projects:

Prom Dreams: A High School Love Story (Complete)

A high school dating sim with a dark twist. While you begin the game as a normal teenage boy looking for a date for prom, you'll quickly find yourself in the midst of a bloody, horrific mystery. Gameplay is primarily story and exploration driven, with numerous surprises for those who take their time to explore, with a touch of macabre adventure-style puzzles.

Turovero: The Celestial Tower (Completed)

A traditional JRPG that slowly unfolds into a deeper, darker mystery (I think this is going to become a theme with my games...). Play as four archetypal heroes ascending a mysterious tower to defeat an ancient evil, only for them to find that things aren't quite as they seem. Gameplay is a mixture of dungeon crawling and turn-based battles with plenty of environmental puzzles to solve, as well as a choice-driven narrative with multiple routes and endings.
Turovero: The Celestial ...
A dark fantasy RPG where truth and lies collide and nothing is as it seems.

Year-End 2019 Misao Discussion.

I think an event that is all about promoting YOUR misao candidate for the year is a great idea. Others can participate by doing reviews, let's plays, even a tiny MS reward of commenting on the game page could work.

author=LordBlueRouge
-permit self promoting during this event because, the main objective of the event should be to round up a list of games to review for the year end misao awards.

...The harsh reality is that, yes, promoting your game for the misaos, is just as important as the game itself and we should be using these events as a way for others to constructively learn those skills required to do that. Sometimes, writing a simple blog post just to let people know that your game exists is enough. But there are also other, more constructive ways, to promote your game and people really should be using these events to figure out those strategies as well.

I think it would do devs a lot of good if they were told they COULD self-promote, because I've avoided doing so due to 1) self-promotion efforts on other platforms being largely a failure (Turovero has been out for 6 months and has only a few hundred downloads total) and 2) the feeling I would be seen as arrogant or conceited by doing so. The "if my game is really good, it should speak for itself, trying to speak for it would be arrogant" mindset, so to speak.

Hi.
I really love this game, it looks so good and i will continue to play it when i have the time.
I maybe missed something written here before, but is it some equipment that we will find or you can implent, that enables encounters/enemies, or at least half the amount of them? I know it will be punishing to overuse it, but it`s so much puzzles and things that at least me will work out without fights .
I feel this has near commercial potential and i love it so don`t misundersand me.
I recommend this to everyone that loves a good story and excellent game.

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you like the game so far!! :D

Actually you can use Monster Repellent to stop random encounters for 3 minutes. It won't stop battles that are triggered by, say, encountering an enemy in the dark mazes or as a part of a puzzle, but it will stop random battles. Stock up on them if you need to, since they're sold in every shop in the game!

Turovero: The Celestial Tower Review

Thank you so much for this wonderful review and I'm so glad you enjoyed the game!! :D

To be honest, I did initially want to do more with the combat than was really feasible for my experience level. An idea I scrapped, for example, was a unison attack system where multiple party members could use a special attack if they had enough points for it. While I know there's probably a way to do it with scripts etc. I didn't want potential feature bloat getting in the way of the game's emphasis on narrative. Maybe one day if I retool this game I might add it in, though... *insert thinking emoji here*

I did actually try using a script to enable cutscene skipping early on in development, but it caused a lot of problems and conflicted with other scripts, so I ended up abandoning it so as not to totally break the game :D;;; Protip for the third boss, Emerald Earrings are your friend, so I'd definitely give the boys those accessories if you have them!
Ah, shame then. I'd have even taken a "hold cancel to skip text" option just to not have to mash A, but I understand the situation. I've had to remove scripts that I really wanted too.

And...The elemental resist accessories are THAT helpful? ...Kinda wish I'd tried them more. I wound up selling them all for equipment and stacks of potions, lol.

I wound up beating the third boss by grinding up one level, buying a boatload of potions and keeping my fighter in a constant state of double-buffed attack with Rally Cry and lots of Liquid Courage. XD Worked pretty well.

Nice!! Keep up the good work! :D I'm also imagining Sigurd drunk off his ass on Liquid Courage right now. Ruby would be proud

Prom Dreams: A High School Love Story Review

Thanks for the review! The three things I'd like to respond to:

1. Pacing - this is an area that I'm hoping to improve upon in a planned remake of the game, as this (aside from the artwork) was the biggest complaint people had. So, yes, I'm aware of this and I'm brainstorming some QOL upgrades to improve upon it.

2. The villain.

Her irrationally blaming Kyle despite him not doing anything was completely intentional. What I intended it to be was to show how legitimate hurt could very easily spiral into irrational hatred. Her mindset is essentially that of a magical school shooter who was intended to be about 50% sympathetic and 50% straight up villainous. If that intention was obscured in any way that may have been my own fault, so sorry about that.

3. Alleged Anti-Semitism

I'm going to be really honest and state that this particular part of your review felt like (whether intentional or not) a Tumblr-style callout post for people to use in order to claim things about me that aren't true. So to be extremely clear: I am NOT anti-Semitic, and none of the themes, imagery, or characters were intended to be in any way negative towards Jewish people.
Dolores' last name, when I researched it, was labeled as Germanic in origin. I was unaware of its connection with Judaism until long after the game's release. Her ancestry is (white) German and Brazilian. She is not and never has been Jewish. The magic used in her family was based in 16th/17th/18th century demonology and popular European occult literature from that time, e.g. Ars Goetia, which does admittedly borrow heavily from Judeo-Christian imagery and myths. The fact that she is wealthy is simply due to the fact that EVERYONE in the game is wealthy, or at least very well off, and that I needed a point of conflict between her and her aunt in the form of her inheritance.
I understand your intentions may be good but I want to both assure you that Prom Dreams was never meant in any way to be anti-Semitic and also to properly defend myself against any attacks upon my character that these statements may potentially lead to, because, well, you know how the internet is.

Thanks again for your feedback and I'm glad you at least liked some of the game. :)

I'm really enjoying the game so far...But man, I wish there was a way to skip cutscenes. The third boss is kicking my ass pretty hard, and the scene leading up to it is a long one. @_@

RMN Music Pack 2

I think I'm gonna have to bow out, I've been in a major creative rut since I finished my last game + work / life stress. You can take my name off of the list because I don't think I'll actually be able to write anything ffff

What about after I put the flower in the altar?

That's actually an optional event that doesn't affect progression. Go up the path on the left side of the moving platform room to find the Sniper switches that let you progress.

Hello, I'm stuck in the Ice floor after the room where I need to grow 4 flower. Can you help?
Answer below the spoiler cut:

Only the four flowers directly on top of each of the four runes should be grown; the others should be melted with Ember.

Hope that helps!

I'm stuck in the room after that 4 flower room, not in the four flower room

So sorry!! I misread the comment :D;; And beneath the cut:

Use Stonecleaver on the rocks on the right side of the room, then stand on the normal floor below the green wall switch (NOT on the cross-shaped platform!) and use Sniper to make it rotate. You'll need to light the torch, melt the ice with it, and then use undergrowth on the vine when it lines up with the wall.
