Hi Friends,

I'm David. I'm a long time fan of indie games and especially RM2K/3. It's absolutely amazing to see what other have created here. I started gaming with the TI-99/4A computer with titles like "Hunt the Wumpus" and "Tunnels of Doom". Yeah...I'm showing my age here. From there, the classic old Sierra games like King's Quest and Space Quest were my favorite.

I'm working on remaking Tunnels of Doom with RPG Maker 2003, it an ambitious project giving this game an RPG story when it never had one before. In retrospect I probably should have remade Hunt the Wumpus first... it would have been a lot easier! (But then again... I'd want to give that game an RPG story as well!)

I'm looking forward to learning more about writing and character development here, as this is an area I can definitely improve on. So when I'm not doing my day job, I'll be here on RMN lurking and learning.

Feel free to talk to me, I'm easily approachable!

What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

I have a dilemma... I'd like to have a story that spans 6-7 chapters, but also have a dungeon in each chapter. Exploring the dungeons easily take 60-90 minutes per level, and this is where the bulk of the game is played.

The question I have is... Should I allow the player to explore towns, talking with NPCS, walk around until they find the right set of actions to progress to the dungeons... OR.. should I make the chapters as long cutscenes, and let the player take over once in the dungeon?

RPG Maker 28th Birthday for KoG!

Looking good! I'm anxiously awaiting the final version!

Playing the game so far. It's nice. My question is..

When you sign the adventurer's log in the shop..is that a reference to a Sierra adventure/rpg series called Quest For Glory?

If so, Nice!

Hi Randy,

Yes it is! Quest for Glory is probably my favorite Sierra game of all time, with King's Quest V coming in as a close second.

I hope you enjoy Tunnels of Doom. I'm very curious to know if you liked the introduction.

FL Studio Project files! That alone is worth a download! I'd really like to see how some of this music was made...

Devlog #5: New demo?

Hi Momeka,

I'm happy to wait for the full game... but if you were to release a new demo, I would definitely try it out!

[RMMV] Hi everyone. Here's my plan/ hope...

Welcome festeraddams!

We have a very famous adaptation here on RMN. Back in the day, Lysander86 adapted Lloyd Alexander's "The Book of Three"

It is very well done, and I believe the process you describe is similar to what was done here. The dialogue isn't exactly word-for-word, but the gist of the conversations are there.

Here's the link:

I often thought of doing one for "War of the Worlds", but I don't have the graphic design skills to make all new sprites.
