Fantasia:The Long Awaited Update
@kalledemos
I really hope you enjoy it when it is complete:)There has been so many changes to this game. I have officially programmed it to be 2 engines in one. I've implemented everything I planned about Fantasia II, and put it in this engine early.
@Gourd_Clae
This project will never die, I will work day and night until it is complete. I am very happy with what I have so far and I really hope people enjoy this game when it is complete. Thank you for believing in this project. If you could help, that would be great! I look forward to it.

Sorry about that! I am trying to re-upload it now, but my connection is acting up and won't allow me to!! When I successfully upload it, I'll post a blog about it. And I will fix Kiki's info.
Games sequels, stay the same or go different? why and how?
author=EzekielRage
Why make a sequel? because your original gameplay was solid and you can improve on that. That should be the ONLY reason to make a sequel.
if you do it for the story, stop. Just stop. Your irst story was not that good to begin with, no matter how good you think it was.
Create something new instead. Heck, even use the same characters for all I care but if you ever do a sequel, do it because the gameplay can be perfected further. That's the only reason to do it...
Well said:) Most sequels do use the same characters and gameplay is the most important thing in a game. Stories are great to have, but they aren't necessary. The only genre I believe should have deep stories are RPGs unless you want to add a deep story to another genre like a platformer, action, or adventure game.

My point exactly:) Before, Mario could stay underwater forever, then they introduced realistic concepts in which he can drown. Mario's HP is no longer based on power ups, but a healthbar instead. You have a single level map, but you reach different sections of that map through missions. There is no longer a timer in stages and there were several moves added such as punching, triple jump,backflip, wall jump, and an assortment of other moves. That was indeed a huge transition not only for Mario, but for 3D games worldwide. You still jump on everything, but in a different, full-scale 3D world.
So its good to try different things and explore with a character or a game because you never know how successful it may become. Just don't try anthing like Sonic 06 or Final Fantasy 14.

If you have a solid formula that people like, stick with it. For Eample, Mega Man has been the same since the 1980s, but it still is very popular. Mario keeps the same stuff, but adds innovation along with it. Reusing the same core gameplay can be a good thing and a bad thing. In most cases this is good because people are going to remember how the previous game played and will be able to easily pick up the gameplay of the sequel. Some of the best examples are Super Mario Galaxy 2 /Kingdom Hearts 2/Final Fantasy X-2. Although the gameplay was the same, they added enough innovation, content, and gameplay fixes to keep it fresh. Every sequel I've played plays just like its predecessor, but new things and updated gameplay is what keeps it from becoming an extension or slight addition. Nobody wants a game that plays completely different with every entry.
However, It strictly depends on what the series is. Not all sequels will be the same, some will continue a story, while others may go in a totally different direction.

Testers Needed!!
Yes, keep them in order. I used to feel the same way about making fantasia until I spent a whole day putting things in order. If I were you, I would spend a day or two categorizing your variables to make it easier for you to find them. For example I have several variable categories such as...
and a bunch of other variables, but keeping them in order is very important. Once an variable works and is complete, place it in a category and leave it alone unless you have to do more with it. The same thing goes for switches.

Time is the main thing, but content is another. I am aiming for 36 stages +9 bosses, but I would like stage designs to vary. I just recently played Super Mario Galaxy 2 and it is one of the most inspirational platform games I've ever played. Another thing holding this game back is the huge number of monsters I have to program. I have at least 70 monsters that have to do different things and are located in all kinds of areas. I would like to have this game done by September, but it looks like It may take a little longer.
Testers Needed!!
I also forgot to mention that Asha will be a source of inspiration for characters from this point on. I have learned a lot since I added her as a test character, and now I will get the other characters to be just as fluid as her. What I need to do is animate the characters better and fix their moves while polishing their movement and collision masks.

author=byro210I have all of the tiles right now except for the Castle of Pandemonium. I have spent hours upon hours ripping the tiles based of the monster world 3 level maps.After this game is complete, I will be releasing all of the chip sets as a downloadable resource.As of now they are a decent size and I made them to give me alot of level flexibility. Here is an example of one
Its an open idea but, you could get a developer to make tiles graphics while you do graphics and place them on the map? - The fact its in Game Maker - Not sure if you have pro but anyway the fact its in Game Maker makes it a bit harder to team up with other people swapping stuff other than Rpg Maker.

author=orochiiSure thing:) Thank you so much!
Count me in! C:.
author=SeericThat would be fantastic! I appreciate that:) I am asking you to go all out and give me your absolute best possible feedback.
I would be happy to test this game out. I'm a bit busy this month, but I can still definitely find a few hours each week to look out for glitches and difficulty imbalances while trying my best to break the game.
