Yeah, I saw that, but nobody gives reasons WHY they liked them.
Which would help, because the parts I might like =/= the parts OTHER people liked.
And thats the point.
I'm not making the game I want to play, per se, but the game I enjoy MAKING and OTHER people enjoy playing. (Hopefully)
Because if I'm only thinking about what I want to play, well, I just made it. I know what happens.
Now what... I'm supposed to play it? Oops. :P
(Plus I like weird shit that other people might not find funny/interesting/fun)

...What are, in your opinion, some of the best RM games you've played, and why?
Was it a spectacular battle system?
An epic plot?
Lovable characters?
Humor?
Playing these games can only help me make my own games better.
It's not like I'm gonna DIRECTLY take a section of plot, but I will observe plot flow, complexity, how it's presented, etc.
Also, if you want a shameless plug for your game, this is the place to put it.
I'd probably be none the wiser. :P

I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. Actually, I am, I just don't see why it is a necessary reaction to what I said. People use the graphics they do in games either because they want to, feel it bests suits their game or it's the best they can do. I definitely wasn't trying to imply there was anything wrong with using RTP.
They way I read it, it was "RTP seems to be used in old-school type games".
So my question was, "Is it okay to use RTP for a game that doesn't try to be old-school, or would people think that I was trying to do that (make it seem old-school), and stop playing?"

I'm just gonna have to keep a note of who these people are and just ignore them. Sometimes.
