Just starting to get my feet in the water with this "coding" thing...
If everyone could please be patient and answer my questions, I'd be much obliged.

Wow. so welcoming. You guys say you're so much more friendly than other sites, but most of you are the biggest fucktards I ever had the displeasure of meeting.
How the FUCK are you guys gonna get new members if this is how you treat them?
Me? I could give a shit less about how you treat me. But come on.
I'm sure all of you wanted to be treated with the same kind of shit when YOU joined that your giving Manifesto!
isn't that right?
I'm sure you all love being put down, and treated like dirt just because your new.

One last thing: Intenet Fuckwad Theory much?

EDIT: I don't give a damn if I get banned for awhile for this post.
perhaps it would be best if I was silenced for a few days, so I don't have to rant you bastards asses off again.

And then there's those of you who just...Don't seem to feel the need to be mean.
What sets these two sets of people on such EXTREME opposite ends of the spectrum?
Discuss.

Oldschool RPGs aka the blinding lights of nostalgia

post=95075
Is this topic about video games in general or RPGmaker games? I think it is a little silly to compare what people are doing with RPGmaker as a whole to the entire market these daysand qualify as old school gaming when alot of RPGmaker games likely aren't decidedly old school in nature. We're not professionals and don't have access to the same resources developers in the industry do. I don't think every game made with the RTP is a concious decision to make an old school style game. If so, how would we compare them to games like Dragon Fantasy which intentionally try to make you feel like you're playing something from the NES?

What if we just think that the RTP sprites fit our game?
There's plenty of options there, even in VX.
Plus, using mostly RTP keeps the file size down.
(since I don't think you can clean out the unused RTP stuff in VX.
I aim to make a game that you could play on a windows 98 or PSP if you wanted to. (If thats even possible. Can you play RM games on a PSP?)

Hellion

Guess who just mauled the Butcher? Huh? Guess.

He couldn't even touch my level 8 Kensai. No seriously. I had like, 200 defense and the only time he did damage was when he used Cleave at the beginning of the battle. It wiped out everyone else, but Ernie pulled through.
BTW, that glitch you warned me about is NOT why I have 200 DEF. I just have some kick-arse armor, and on top of that, Kensai's are built like a brick wall.

Anyway, I will need to grind MUCH more to beat him as my other guy.
-> Gonna go do that soon. :)

Enjoying the game,

What Makes Stereotypical jRPGs Terrible?

Hell, I hardly want it. I'm not gonna waste even tewenty minutes writing a "joke" game.
If I did, It wouldn't be about an in-joke I came across on a forum, it'd be completely random shit with "cameos" of characters from other games and there would be a town where everyone's name is Bob and they all tell you to "go talk to bob at (place in town) to learn more". (It'd be optional, of course.)

Monopolo

Wow. Did you ACTUALLY get the rights to produce this game?
...Or is this supposed to be...how you say...Hush-hush?
Either way, Monopoly + Anime...Interesting.
This may require a download. :)

It all depends on how they are written.

"if you mind what the PLAYER wants to see, therein lies the successful key.
A big ego is not "Da Bomb"; your audience is never wrong."

What it means, is, if you make your game based on what OTHER people would want to see, not neccesarily what YOU would, then your game has a higher chance of success.

beakmanthegreat, Silviera and Craze are testers for Hellion. I started a call for beta testers here 5 days ago and they responded. I opted to use RMN's feature to add them as testers, though it doesn't identify them as such on the gamepage.

Just to clear up the confusion.
And the Kensai isn't as bad as you think.
I haven't had much time to play, but even with limited OOBS, the combat is DEFINITELY fun as one. :D

Another fun Class is the Animal-Summoner guy. (I'm terrible with names. D:)
NOTE: I need to test if my summons learn new moves by leveling up.

EDIT: Haha, sorry. Thread hijack.

beakman: I like it when games are fun.

Are you saying this game WOULDN't be fun?
An RPG where you play as a total nerd going around trying not to get beat up by bullies as you try to find the nine other FFII fans in your city? The final boss would be the comic book store owner who refuses to sell your "party" all ten of his copies of FFII NES. It would be epic.

I suggest everyone has a crazy person in their games. The person should say random quotes that normally don't make sense, but have meaning about past game failures, developing/programming hardships, or upcoming projects. (like Ma'iq the Liar.)

And then you would have a book somewhere, (like in that characters house) that explains what each thing means, or the story behind it.
