My Kaspersky didn't flag it, probably why I wasn't aware of it. -_-

author=kentonaIs the game download infected with a virus? Also, when I attempt to run the game it just shuts down right away - no errors no warnings. What gives?
Other people have said a similar problem, I think it's to do with executable compression. First time I installed RPG Maker VX I got this my Norton, so I uninstalled it in favor of Kaspersky.
The game is probably closing because Norton is deleting the RGSS runtime.

Per request on Yunalesca's battle image: I run Google Chrome aside of the folder where I have the game installed. My laptop's stats (which I think you need to help me fix my problems with launching the game):
OS: 7 Home Premium (64b)
CPU: Intel Core i5 2430M
VRAM: NVIDIA GT520MX gDDR 1GB_HBR
MEMORY: 4 GB
ODD: Super Multi Dual Layer (SATA)
Basically we have discovered that anything that uses an overlay on your screen, XFIRE, STEAM, MEDIA PLAYERS, eg WMP, iTunes etc will cause the game to shut down. Basically shut down everything except for your anti-virus and system software and the game will function properly. It may also help if you run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode (to do this, right click on the game shortcut and select compatibility, then select Windows XP Service Pack 3).
If you are still having problems please feel free to ask again :)

I downloaded the 1.2 base (I'm impatient... sorrry!!!) and patched up with the 1.5 patch, which completed fine and didn't produce any errors. Re-running the patch states that the game is already updated. BUT! The title screen still states 1.4, the readme files all still state 1.4, game.ini is still 1.4 and there's no launcher like the 1.5 patch notes talk about.
There is one more issue and if it's part of the game; yay! if not, then it's a major issue; boo! For the last few hours or so, Benjamin has been gaining significantly more experience points than anyone else, so much so that while the rest of my team are between 45-55 level --- Benjamin is in the 70s. If I get, say, 8000XP from an enemy; my party will gain 8000XP but Benjamin will get 12000-16000XP. It's been pretty consistent for the last couple of hours gameplay and I'm not sure whether it's a bug or whether it's due to hidden equipment bonuses. Here is what Benjamin is currently wearing;
Dragon Sword
Venus Shield
Moon Helm
Iron Armour
Fairy Shoes
Sorry this may be a mistake on my part, may have patched the wrong files. Don't worry I'll reupload the patch again. :P

Once I've finished the game, I'll also put forward my opinions - but I have to say, my bug encounter rate so far has been deliciously minimal. The handful of queries I've had have already been addressed by yourself, and others, so there's no point treading old ground. I've certainly not encountered anything game-breaking and, luckily, I never returned to Foresta/Bone Temple once I've acquired the Earth Crystal.
Usually I'm insanely unlucky when it comes to stuff like this, I tend to get hit with all manner of glitches and bugs and show-stoppers, but I'm thankful to have been rather lucky this time.
That's good to know. I've enjoyed hearing all the feedback, good and bad, from all you guys. I'll continue to keep up with the work :)

Well...one thing for sure. Youve taken quite a few hits concerning the game. To your credit you have weathered them well with admirable composure. It is good to have players offer their critiques and in fact they have been accurate.
With all the new patches I dont know which one is going to be the last and now it seems another is on the way so I am going to erase the game and wait a few weeks and see what the newest patch to end all patches is and then d/l the game.
It is a good game as it is although the glitches are a bit much.
So I am looking forward to eventually beating this bad boy.

I think waiting a while is a good idea. I've had some really good bug reports and feedback which have helped immensely and are really helping to shape the game into what I'd like it to finally be.

I was just about to ask whether there was any news on the 1.5 installer (since I can't patch to 1.5 over my 1.4 installer setup) - but you say it will be next week? Okay then =)

Animebryan: Thanks for the detailed report, I WILL sort out all of those problems that you have stated. You've been very helpful. Some responses :P
1. Sorry about that, I suppose I got caught up with the mad amounts of translations of his name that was avaliable. I'll fix this.
2. Thanks for telling me about the face, I would never have noticed that!
3. OK, I've put this in a note and I'll check the events over for this. See the script I sent you won't work without events on the maps themselves that change the background of the battle as you go. It's kind of annoying having to remember every entrance > Exit way grah but I will fix it.
4. As far as I know, there's no option in RPG maker to disable certain items from being sold. Items such as the Sand Coin are needed for some of the scripts (although most events are switch based). I could be wrong, there may be a way to disable the selling of some items so I will take a look at it.
5. OK, I'll note the weakenesses. What I will need to do then is make 'Axe' attack as an actual 'Element' in the database to fool the game into thinking it's an elemental weakness. Stupid I know but it's the only way its gonna work!
6. Woops! The chest in Ice Pyramid actually contains Phoebe's strongest shield, the Ether Shield. I'll look at this immediately.
7. The Ozma battle was my sister's idea. Originally we was going to make them both merge into one Ozma after defeating them both but we couldnt find a way to do it. Stupidly, I left the transform setting in at pazuzu's id. Dumb, I know, but I fixed this in 1.5 and changed the music. And I forgot to put the Weapon Add event in, I know. Stupid. :P (Fixed that in 1.5)
8. OK, thanks for telling me, I'll fix this.
9. Too many events. I will remove some of them. (Because you are in a vehicle in that area, no random encounters are possible)
10. That's odd, I was fighting Dark King just now and his Octopus kids attack hit him as well. I WILL look at it though.
11. I'm not afraid to admit, you are completely right about Doom Castle. But I am in the process of expanding and re-mapping it's areas. More puzzles will also come in since I'm also working on jumping and hookshotting scripts.
And yeah, the base damage for Holy Sword does suck. I'll make it much higher. :)
I think that's a fair rating, all things considered. The game is 'complete' in technical sense but not in my mind. I will continue to update and change it until I'm completely satisfied with it so you're not the only one my friend :)
Anyway thanks for the comment, and I will get on with this and work on these problems you've highlighted. It may take me till the end of the week to post the update though since there's much to be done in the next update.
