I figured he was asking for a game he's played... but apparently he just wants to know if an rm2k game like that exists.
I'll get right on it

@MOG: Looks smashing, as usual. I'd strongly suggest getting rid of the borders along the wall though (shift-placing the stony floor tile), since right now, at a glance, there are some identification problems. The first thing my brain thought was "oh, it's another floor ti- wait!".
I definitely agree. Looks too confusing as is. I thought that the wall was at a lower level at first.
Your abandoned game ideas?

Definetely get rid of the bevel and emboss. It looks terrible and the fact that it's done on a wood texture is even worse. Looks very unprofessional

Tales from Zilmurik: Origin
I've been playing through this recently. It's a very fun game. However, the encounter rate is WAY too high in most areas. I sometimes take ONE STEP after a battle only to get thrown into another one. My suggestion is to lower the encounter rate and make the enemies harder (as well as make them give more exp to balance it out)
As well, the characterization is terrible. I understand that this isn't the main focus of the game, but you should at least attempt to give the characters some personality. Make Alex the overconfident hero, Deiji; the cautious intellectual, and Carol, the sarcastic bitch. Anything is better than the bland dialogue we get in this version. You can change the name of a character speaking to anybody else's and it won't make a difference as it is right now. I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm just trying to give advice.
The story is very basic, and that's okay... I just wish Alex had a reason for leaving his hometown rather than just wanting to "explore the world". Just a minor complaint. As well, I think you should expand the towns and add more houses to some of them. What kind of town has three houses (only one of which is residential) and a castle? And I'd prefer the NPC's at least say something rather than not anything.
That being said, this is still a very enjoyable game. The mapping is excellent, as well, and the dungeons are pretty well designed and fun to navigate through. I think this is indeed a good game, but it could be much better.
