I hope you get to meet Kentona again near the end of the journey and he is still using the same starter pokemon just ridiculously leveled up, and then he's like "You can evolve pokemon??!"

That would be awesome! :D
Maybe they can even be challenging with high enough levels (or a special tweak in the code).
