I am CashmereCat now.

Twisted baubles replace my brain and I am toxic yet nice. There's a lot to me, but also not a lot going on up there, they say. PM me because I love attention, I do interviews, I do reviews, I do stuff. Here for the long haul. Gotta hustle.
I'm working on whatever I'm working on, and I love RPG Maker games that aren't traditional RPGs. Puzzlers, interactive stories, but nothing too abstract that'll weird me out. Just give me a polished gem and I'll stare at it for days, marveling at the way the light reflects just right, inner inflections, potato top pie.
I want to make games with you.

Makerscore
author=LockeZauthor=kentonaI dunno. If you review a game specifically just to point out that the other review is biased and that the game is really nowhere near as good that review claims it is, it shouldn't raise the game's score. "Buzz" on its own isn't a measure of effort or quality, it's just a measure of buzz.
Also, Anaryu suggested that perhaps reviews are just bonus makerscore, and that each review should generate bonus score. So if you got a half dozen of low scoring reviews, at least you've proven that the game is interesting/buzzing enough to generate that! Worth considering, anyway.
Speaking from the website's point of view, though, buzz is important, and the website wants to reward buzzed about games with makerscore, so people are encouraged create more buzz?
What Type of Developer Are You?
Recently I've realized that I may not be the type of developer I thought I was. The way I see it, there are many different types of developers, with several strengths and weaknesses. I have realized that part of the reason why I struggle sometimes as a developer is because I focus on making a game that I think I "should" be making, focussing on things such as art and polish of style etc. But I realize that I am not a good artist, and other people in the world are far better artists than I. I also sometimes make the mistake of thinking I am a good writer, but I am only medium-to-fair at writing skills, especially when it comes to constructing a plot or characters.
I also began to wonder why my serious game "Darga" was far less enjoyable game than my game I made for fun "Maximus Jones". And it's not just because it's less well-received, even I enjoyed Maximus Jones more than Darga, both the making of it and the playing of my own game. I'm more proud of Maximus as a game, so why is that? Because I spent far less effort and took it far less seriously?
Then it came to me. My strength is in eventing and puzzle design, as well as making entertaining experiences for the player. I sometimes focus too hard on atmosphere and artistic merit of the game, when I think my skills are more suited towards making a fun diversion for the player. I also realize I enjoy developing these type of games a lot more.
Has anyone else had a similar epiphany regarding what "type" of developer they are? Do you need to re-examine yourself and realize that maybe you are reaching for an unattainable goal, and it does not fit your skill set? Not everyone can make that triple-digit-hour RPG with all those custom systems, but if it's your forte then why not do it? Perhaps the fun of the development has been drained because you're trying to fit into the expectations of what you want to develop?
Something to think about.

Death Wish Review
Maybe I didn't see the "Crystal will start in X" graphic because I was playing in windowed mode. I saw it in the screenshots and wondered why that was in the screenshots and not my version? So in that respect I probably didn't give a fair review.
Still, I feel like waiting 1 minute 10 seconds for a crystal to construct is quite a long time, after which the monsters take so short to destroy your crystal and you have to start the process all over again... perhaps I do need to play multiplayer in order to understand this title. I reckon I would have more fun playing as DeathWish actually, being able to spawn monsters and the like.
I will retract my score for now, because it casts a blight on your game, and I haven't experienced the multiplayer mode, but yes, I will re-visit this once the multiplayer mode is experienced. Note that I did play the game for about half an hour but I ragequit because I couldn't secure more than 1 zone. And that was on Easy. Maybe I'm just playing wrong but I don't really feel like I'm the dullest player you're gonna come across :P

@Liberty Ah frick it must have been my screen because they look fine now. That or he changed them somehow. I must be seeing things O_O
Edit: Yes, but other than that, reminds me of Geondun somewhat. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more logical battles.
@Detective Yes, and mushrooms usually grow in darkness. The lack of shadows in the map is kind of jarring. Generally, the same type of flowers grow in the same place in my experience. Fields of daisies, fields of chrysanthemums. Idk, it seems like a whole bunch of different flowers in one place seems weird.

@Craze Everything is so dark! Usually it's bearable in the game screen, but you can barely see the enemies that you're targetting. :I I'd recommend toning down the lighting quite a lot. I made the same mistake on my game, and Fomar gave it a scathing review for being too dark and confusing. Which it was. And it was better lit than your current screenshots suggest. :I Just giving you a heads up.
