AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.

I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.

Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

What jobs are you made for? - Holland Code Quiz

author=CashmereCat
To that I'll say WTF no, and pls go away test, I don't like you.

So what do you do or plan on doing then?

I'm well aware that quizzes aren't always right. What is fun and interesting is to take it anyway and share the results and your thoughts on it.
If I recall correctly, when I took it in 9th grade one of the suggested jobs was antiquary. Hell no.

What jobs are you made for? - Holland Code Quiz

I remember taking that quiz in 9th and 10th grades.
You can take the test here: http://www.roguecc.edu/Counseling/HollandCodes/test.asp

Over a dozen years later the results have been more or less confirmed:

AIE

Realistic: 4 *lowest
Investigative: 8
Artistic: 10 *highest
Social: 5
Enterprising: 8
Conventional: 5

Suggested jobs: Game Writer/Developer, Screen Writer, Fiction Writer, etc.

Aside from the day job (unrelated, gotta pay the bills) I take commissions as an artist/pixel artist (and would ultimately like to do that only - currently making slow but steady steps towards that goal).

Have you ever taken that test before?
Was it accurate for you or not?
Do you believe you've found or taken the right career path?
:)

FFD Concept Art 08 - Ellie Baldesion

Are those black thingies on the hood supposed to look like cat ears from the front?
Really nice design :)

How to add "style" to a game

Could you tell us what specifically make it feel like a generic RPG?
And what games can you name have a distinct style by comparison?

Because broadly speaking, "style" can refer to either very little or a huge lot...

Feedback on a Battle Theme

There's a steady melody, excellent volume balance, some pretty nice hooks and enough variety in the drums... All good stuff!
If anything, the last movement where the guitar alternates between fast and slower riffs feels a little over the top, but is still consistent with the rest of the melody.
I'd be interested in hearing more of your work ;)

General Art Tutorial/Advice Depot!

Ah, one thing to say about speedpaints: they don't teach anything. You can hardly see what tools and techniques the artist uses and there are no explanations provided. They're good to show off an artist's work and nothing else.

One of the best advice I can give to beginner digital artists is to not try to learn everything right away. Learn one tool or one technique at a time and draw something with it. Practice. A lot.

For every hour you spend reading or watching tutorials, you should spend at least 3 hours on actual practice.

Why shadows aren't gray by RianaLD. Shading/light sources very well explained and shown.

How to Draw Cloth by JaneMere. Excellent explanation here as well.

Final Fantasy Discovery: Release Something Day 2015

Great job on the video! There's a healthy amount of tease in there: the caves, Limit Breaks, and that treasure you didn't take is killing me...
I'm really looking forward to the first playable demo.
The finished portraits are superb as well. Excellent work!

General Art Tutorial/Advice Depot!

That's a clever use of the Color Range Selection!
I use it myself to make the background transparent on sprite sheets.

RenPy Game

There's a good amount of Renpy games hosted here:
http://rpgmaker.net/games/?engine=13
Most of them being Visual Novels, so a focus on the plot with a few choices to pick is totally fine.

Story writer/ Programmer/ Events

Hi and welcome!
Could you give us some examples of what kind of gameplay you can code? Like action-based battles, ATB gauges, Blackjack minigame, menus, etc?
