AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.

I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.

Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

Skyblazer Engine HD

Nicely done so far. The only potential problem I can see is the camera delay and the character being too close to the bottom of the screen when falling down, which prevent the player from seeing enemies and hazards before it's too late.

Amazing non-jokes.

A hundred men wearing blue jackets, blue hats and riding blue motorcycles meet on the road and decide to build a mansion. When finished, a single man wearing a red jacket, a red hat and riding a red motorcycle shows up and throws a grenade at the mansion. The mansion explodes. Fifty men in blue die.

The remaining fifty men wearing blue jackets, blue hats and riding blue motorcycles then decide to build a regular house. When finished, the same man wearing a red jacket, a red hat and riding a red motorcycle shows up again and throws a grenade at the house. The house explodes. Thirty men in blue die.

The remaining twenty men wearing blue jackets, blue hats and riding blue motorcycles then decide to build a small cottage. When finished, the same man wearing a red jacket, a red hat and riding a red motorcycle shows up yet again and throws a grenade at the cottage. The cottage explodes. Fifteen men in blue die.

The remaining five men wearing blue jackets, blue hats and riding blue motorcycles then decide to build a tool shack. When finished, the same man wearing a red jacket, a red hat and riding a red motorcycle shows up yet AGAIN and throws a grenade at the shack. The shack explodes. A single man in blue remains.

The man in blue is pissed off. He gets on his blue motorcycle and rides after the man in red trying to catch him... But the man in red on his red motorcycle is too fast and he loses him. Point being, red motorcycles are faster than blue ones.

How do you feel about dungeon crawling?

Dungeon Crawlers have to be a bit on the easy side for me to enjoy them because they tend to be intentionally redundant. If the game becomes too difficult because of randomness, if making progress takes too long or if the only option at one point is to grind/farm, then I lose interest regardless of how good everything else is.

Redundant + Easy = Tolerable
Redundant + Hard = Unappealing

I'm definitely interested in non-redundant Crawlers.

What if? (Original Robot Masters)

I would definitely love to sprite for such a project. Let me know if this actually happens and I'll send you samples of my work and stuff.

[RM2K3] yet another issue with chipsets...

The blank black tile in the upper left corner of the upper layer chipset (and the black background used for the rest of the chipset) is supposed to be the transparent (void) tile. It's default color is usually pink in the RTP.

The problem is probably that the black color you used to replace the pink is not considered the default transparent color by the engine.
I should be able to fix this problem for you using a software called iDraw if you send me your chipsets. What I'll do is make sure the transparent color is set to that black in iDraw then save the chipset and send it back to you.

(or you can try to fix it yourself by getting iDraw here: http://rpgmaker.net/engines/custom/utilities/73/
If you open the palette in iDraw, the transparent color is the one in the upper left corner)

An RPG Maker equivelent to Hyperdimension Neptunia

Sounds cool! Do you already have some ideas about their physical appearance? Like will they wear sci-fi gear like in HDN or modern/period garments?

An RPG Maker equivelent to Hyperdimension Neptunia

It's called Personification and is usually ecchi fuel.
When it comes to game making engines I think it would make more sense to build conflict around their specs/capabilities and design their looks based on caricatures of their typical fans (2k3 is an older grumpy conservative, Ace is a know-it-all overexcited newbie, etc.)
"Fan service" should rather be popular game cameos, developer cameos (maybe as enemies or NPCs?). Going the sexy, all-girl cast way would be a waste of potential in my opinion.

Comiket, or its western counterparts?

Apparently there is a Comiket-inspired event in Vancouver: https://www.facebook.com/MinicomiVancouver/info?tab=page_info
We also have Comicons but I've never been to one and don't know if indie artists can get exposure there.

Final Fantasy vs Dragon Quest (titles 1-6)

Oh I'd say DQ4 is my fourth favorite out of the first eight. It's pretty good in all aspects. I just didn't mention much because I wanted to compare the gameplay only and I can't decide which one I prefer between DQ4 and FF4.

author=Craze
Max, I suggest emulating DQ3 for SNES, or if you have a ps2/can emulate ps2 games, DQ8. DQ8 is lonnnnnnggggggggg but pretty and has a ridiculous story. And, like all other DQs, heavily rewards exploration -- this time just in 3D!

...if you're into trying one, I mean.

Seconded. DQ3 is a must play classic but if you want a more modern take on the series, DQ8 is amazing.

2014 Misaos - The VOTENING

Gah! I totally forgot to pick my nominations this year.
