AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.

I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.

Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

SWEET SIXTEEN

Did we ever get the rewards and MS for the 15th anniversary event?

[ART] [PAID] Looking to Hire 2D Artist (JUN-JAN) $1000/mo

Alright, thanks for the info!
Your document is very detailed and I can tell you put time and effort into it, but that kind of document is more suitable within large, professionnal studios and not so much needed when hiring freelancers.

You can simply post the list of required assets here and a few images for references.

I would recommend that you pay per asset made rather than offering a monthly pay, because you can't tell if the artist will spend their time efficiently.

Are you still looking for a composer as well?

[ART] [PAID] Looking to Hire 2D Artist (JUN-JAN) $1000/mo

What is your studio's name?
Have you made other games before? Can you share the links? Do you have a website?

Is there any chance you can post the information here or using images instead of asking us to open google docs? Because that seems shady.

My house's AC broke so I'm currently burning to death from the humity. That's fun.

Put medium-sized wet towels in the freezer for a few minutes, then wrap them around your head and shoulders. It will keep you cool for a while. I do that every summer.

RMN's Event Event

Congratulations to everyone who submitted and participated :)

I took the time to play a few more entries (not all of them yet). Here are my thoughts and opinions, if you're interested:

Fflo: When Death Wills - Underworld Accountant Agency
Creative setting, good use of sound effects to support the scenes. I like the relaxed mood of the game to which the chill music track contributes. I had a couple of good chuckles at the few jokes that are thrown around.
The difficulty is appropriate. I didn't want to cheat so I refrained from writing anything down and still got 8/10 and 10/10.
I wish that the auto-scrolling text in the intro would remain on screen for a tad longer because I didn't have time to read everything. Another suggestion I'd make, if possible, is to show all the right answers along their respective questions when a quiz is over, or to highlight the correct answers after each question (that might require the use of Pictures).
Overall, the game is a nice, short distraction with good potential for a deeper plot.

Ulevo: Initial Legend
I'm sorry to say that I didn't play much because I couldn't enjoy it. I felt like the game brought to light a lack of experience from the developer, as there are many small annoying design decisions that pile up and make it unenjoyable. I do enjoy the Final Fantasy 1 feeling that was aimed for. I feel like there's plenty of room for improvement and it would be nice to see where an overhaul of this game could lead it.

shuruzy: One Final Burial
Solid visuals and good use of sound effects. The remixed music is very nice and enjoyable on its own, adding mood and atmosphere to the single image dungeons. Dialogues between the quirky characters are entertaining. Pacing is great and ensures that you learn the importance of every new skill you get. Overall, it's pleasant to play and well-polished.
I stumbled upon a few bugs: SP shown on the dungeon maps doesn't update after revival. The snakes lose 1.66666666667 SP after a certain attack, which looks really silly.
I made it to the 4th dungeon (I think? Maybe it's the 5th).
The big downside is that the experience is very linear, even during battles, due to the combination of having a limited set of skills and only 1 or 2 of them being useful when facing each enemy. Replay value would be very low for me. It's a good concept though, and could also be suitable for a bigger, longer, more complex and less linear game.

Karsuman, Craze, Silviera: One Million Steps
Pretty well-designed town with plenty of loot to find and a good selection of equipment to buy that will have you return several times. The gameplay is the focus, offers some variety and is pretty solid despite lacking creativity.
While the party's interactions and casual comments are entertaining, it lacks in terms of plot or well-defined objectives to keep me motivated from one task to the next. All you do is to take treasure chests and fight random encounters. There aren't any puzzles or traps, mini-games, side quests or engaging cutscenes to break the monotony.
Another thing that annoyed me is the fairly low hit rate of my party's attacks, especially Elena's.
I played for a little less than an hour and haven't finished exploring the forest (2nd dungeon).
While you could expect more from a team of veteran developers such as this one, overall it's a decent submission for the event.

The Collector

Thank you for version 2.0!
The new Life and Mana gauges are more useful now. I managed to beat the game: it's not too hard now and becomes progressively easier the more items you find.
The ending's simple yet nice! It was worth it to beat the game.

You could increase the final boss's attack power to make her more threatening, in my opinion.
I experienced lag after using the second healing area: some messages wouldn't appear and some animations would be skipped, making it hard to tell what was going on. But it wasn't unplayable and with a bit of patience I managed to finish exploring the second map and open the golden door. The lag was gone when I entered the final boss's room.

I hate to see Qisa getting beaten up but it's a nice feature to have implemented :P
Well done!

RMN's Event Event

Alright, cool! :)

Another option for the gauges is to have the left part of the HUD (the map and the black background) be shown above the gauges. You can simply move the gauges to the left when they deplete, so they become partially hidden under the HUD, instead of having to draw several gauges.

RMN's Event Event

I gave the 2 submissions currently available a quick try and wanted to share my comments in case you'd want to improve the games in the remaining time:

Soulrain: Sorry!
I'm not familiar with the game Sorry! so I can't understand any references made to it as I play this. I don't know if I should.
It's a badaptation... and yes, it's bad :P
Although, for starters, I like the custom art and the isometric view. And being able to form a party out of several characters, although I don't know whether this or that character would make a huge difference...
I reached the first checkpoint and didn't really want to keep playing :P
The first maps are plain and uneventful. The recurrent battle against 3 slimes with nothing but regular attacks at my disposal is not fun. The enemies can one-shot me too. Upgrading your equipment, buying items and healing at the checkpoint's inn require grinding for money.
I couldn't enjoy this game, but I suppose that was the idea.

pianotm: The Collector
This one I do want to try again if you polish it some more, fix a few bugs and add a few quality of life improvements.
The concept and first-person view are not what I'd expect of a short RM event game so I was immediately interested in playing.
It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how movement worked. Up moves you in the direction you're facing, but you can't see what direction you're facing so it might be confusing at times. Left and right make you turn 90° and take a step forward as long as there isn't a wall in that direction. And Down seems to be a 180° turn.
The encounter rate is awfully high: about 1 fight every 2 or 3 steps. I ran out of MP early on, so I suppose that this is the kind of game where you have to fail and die a few times in order to learn.
The gameplay is a bit slow for my tastes. I'd like for the enemies to move faster across the screen and for battle messages to go by a little faster too.
It would be nice to implement HP and MP as gauges to give a clearer indication of how much I have left, instead of changing their color.
Some of the letters in the font are a little weird, like "h" that looks like "b" and "d" that have a strange curve.
I also ran into a bug when I found a chest that contained a health potion while I already had one in my inventory: the closed chest's image stayed on screen when I move away.
If you can improve the game within the time remaining, I would definitely give it another try :)

Can someone help me with a math problem?

Room 1 can be any of the 10 remaining rooms: 10 possibilities.
That's 10 possibilities from "Room 0" to Room 1.

Room 1 has 4 doors: 4 possibilities.
Room 2 can be any of the 9 remaining rooms: 9 possibilities.
4 * 9 = 36 possibilities from Room 1 to Room 2.

Room 2 has 4 doors: 4 possibilities.
Room 3 can be any of the 8 remaining rooms: 8 possibilities.
4 * 8 = 32 possibilities from Room 2 to Room 3.

10 + 36 + 32 = 78 possibilities from "Room 0" to Room 3.

Keep going like that and you'll find the answer... I think? I'm terrible at math so I don't know...

New update v1.2.1

It's nice to see that you continue to polish the game :)
I watched HuntingSwan's stream yesterday. I'm very happy that he gave a lot of feedback.
