Revive the Dead 2: Deader or Alive

Update #2

Summary
Pandora's Present DX is a 'complete' version of my Game Chill 2013 game with added content that had to be cut in order to...not make the deadline anyway. ^__^;
The story is about Dora opening Pandora's Present on Christmas, which unleashes terrible demons upon the world. It's up to her and her friends to save Christmas!
Now with more content! There'll be 3-4 bosses instead of one and more areas, items, enemies, all new graphics and more!

Some clarification: I'm not upgrading my Game Chill game, I'm reviving the DX version I last worked on this January.

Comparison
Some test map with the old and new graphics. The most notable changes are the softer color palette and the fatter characters. Really didn't like how little space the old ones filled.

NEW

I like these updates, since it motivates me to continuously work on my game (or at least do something before the update deadline runs out :P), as well as keep up with everyone else's games.

Revive the Dead 2: Deader or Alive

Hope I'm not too late with my progress update ^___^;

Game: Pandora's Present DX

ToDo: redo all graphics, maps, items, systems, because of course!

Making a christmas game during a halloween event, makes sense :P
Let's pretend it'll release in december due to unforeseen delays.

Thanks for the feedback! Agreed about the brightness being a bit too much. Not sure how I'll solve that problem yet (trying to use only NES colours + a few).

@Chilly-Pheese-Steak:
Both versions look great. Gotta agree with Ozzy though, the one with the rounded courners has more personality.

@Feldschlacht: Maybe try adding a differently coloured building, it's a bit too brown right now.
Looks pretty great otherwise. ^___^

Working on a Dragon Quest-esque (Dragon Quesque?) game right now. Here's part of the world map!

Finsterling

Other than seeking to free Lord Belzewik, little is known about the black knight. In fact, gender, age and favorite color are a mystery to everyone!

Hmm, I'm going to go with....Black.

Also, will this ever be released or did it slink off into a hole and die a lonely lamented death?

I currently don't have any plans to work on this game, mostly because of more interesting projects I'd rather work on (and currently am).
If I do come back to it, it'd get a huge overhaul, seeing as it is one of my earlier games.

Can't say anything regarding the black knight's favorite color, or I'd need to change the description, since it wouldn't be a mystery to anyone anymore...!

Revive the Dead

Doesn't look like I'll be able to release something. I just couldn't make up my mind about what game to revive and how. T_T

On the brightside, something is probably coming out of this eventually.

[RMVX ACE] FFIX/'Tales of' Ability System

Here's a bunch of FF9 scripts, ability equip being among them.

[RMVX ACE] A skill replacing another skill when you HP reaches a certain point

This script seems to do what you're looking for: http://himeworks.com/2013/05/skill-change/

Another way would be to include such properties in the damage formula. For example a.mhp-a.hp would do 1 damage for every missing hitpoint.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Playing some Costume Quest 2 right now. The setting, visual style, jokes, characters etc are still as good as in the first game. The combat on the other hand...boring and tedious again. :/

I was messing around with some lighting in a map earlier. Maybe not the most professional job, but, eh. Also, I think I just want to skip ahead to a small conversation followed up by the boss fight rather than... whatever I was trying to do before.

Wait. I'm doing stuff? Reality check...

Error loading program. (A)bort, (R)etry, (F)ail.
Personally I am a big fan of giving up on aesthetic things if you're having too much trouble with it, because it is SUPER EASY to go back to it later. Better to have working events and gameplay that make sense than a Custom Fog System that works and no game, after all!
Very much agreed. I feel that too many people get hung up on pretties that they get burned out way before ever getting some game parts done. :o

Which of your games are you thinking about using for this event?
I never actually answered this one.
Looks like it'll be parts a very old VX project that played on a board like overworld map, and parts Pandora's Present sequel I abandoned for being too ambitious.

Thinking back on it, maybe I should've revived Finsterling instead (the only game on my profile I haven't finished yet)...too late for that now though!

Edit: Very jealous of all these old title screens btw. Now I wish I had made some too back then. :(
