My name's Kasey Ozymy. I'm a game designer from Texas. I made Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass and am currently working on Hymn to the Earless God.

Yeah, the ceiling is dropping as well. Inside this tunnel, you can only move left/right, so I'm hoping it reads more like a profile view when you're actually there. Having a ceiling drop in a top-down view is tough since the ceiling is normally invisible, so I hope I'm conveying that clearly enough.

As much as I didn't want to break the tension in that area, I'm afraid he looks even cuter when he squeezes further into the tunnel.
The God of Crawling Eyes Review
I know this will have no impact on your view of the game's apparent misogyny, but:
Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I absolutely agree with flagging the file cabinets as pushable from the start, and you made great points about the monster design/atmosphere.
I tried to construct the game around the theme of perception. The endings stem from how you perceive either of the two characters, and your perception of them is based on the choices you make. The intent behind this was to have a choice system that got away from a strict good/evil dichotomy. With Chase, the choices all revolve around whether or not you view him as a friend. With Lily, the choices all revolve around whether or not you view her as an object. So, if you don't view her as an object (e.g. actually talk with her at the beginning, imply that you were paying attention in class rather than stealing glances at her, etc.), then she's rounded out as a character in the end. Otherwise, she becomes a horror movie cliche.
I'm not saying that this was perfectly executed or even a good idea, as this was an older game made pretty quickly for a contest, but that was my thought process going into this.
Re: the "bitch" comments, feel free to call that unimaginative writing, but considering the vibes she put out and the fact that she wants to sacrifice you to a Lovecraftian monstrosity (not to mention the age of the characters who use that pejorative), it seemed like the right word choice. I understand it's a divisive word, though, so I doubt I'll win you over on this one.

New track: Bucket of Stink.
I was going to do a blog post today, but I'm neck deep in essays I've got to grade. Summer's so close...I'm chomping at the bit to get some major work done on Jimmy. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy!

Mogspective: Legend of Legaia
Yeah, I like this kind of thing a lot. I think I've been the most critical voice in these threads, but I'm just really fond of RPGs and enjoy dissecting them and seeing what we can learn from them. You're going to have to dig pretty deep to find a playstation or earlier jrpg I haven't played, so I'll probably pop up in all of them.*
*I apologize in advance.

Ideas on how to do a Shapeshifter Class/Actor?
Create a state. Make that state last one turn and have no effects, and you might want to change the message to say something like, "turned into a werewolf!" Have the skill also apply that state. You shouldn't have that "no effect" message anymore. For the trigger on the comment, leave it as "none."
You can add more skill types under the "skill types" section of the "terms" portion of the database.
Edit: Changing MP for each person will probably take some scripting.
