IROG'S PROFILE

Hi all !

I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.

I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip

I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !

See you around,
Irog

observations

Onix Rift video commentary.

Great development video ! Very informative ! You put a lot of thoughts in your creative camera system. I like how your implementation flows your intention (forcing the player into combat) and not the opposite. I like the risk associated with your flee system. It reminds me of FF7 where trying to flee exposes your back to the enemies. I worked on some action games (short games and prototypes) and only build one simple dynamic camera: Lya's camera looks in front of her. And I totally agree with you that the player should always be on screen.

If you want to expand the possibilities of your camera system, I recommend watching this (the most interesting part for you starts at 21:20 "Framing")

Exile's Journey

Ok i thought this may be because i have an old OS, Windows XP, and the game can't work with it, but other games here with RM2K3 are working nicely. What i hear is the rain fall at the beginning, and all the sounds, like chests opening or the healing thing, shouts and swords clash, but not the menu sound effects, and sadly no music, even on the title screen..

I remember having the same issue. Every time I ran Windows Media Player, it set one of the sound control sliders to 0, causing music in RM2k and RM2k3 do be silent. So, go to sound settings, and set the slider back to normal.

So once the game becomes non-linear and you're told to go to one of the 3 points in any order, I go to the closest one and first fight out on the world map, I get demolished. So you can't just "go in any order" Was a good game till that point, just getting deleted now.

There are plenty of side quests to get exp, gold and new equipment. Some sharks wrecked my party every time I got close to the island they protected. I did some side quests, bought better equipment and then eat shark sushi !
