IROG'S PROFILE

Hi all !

I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.

I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip

I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !

See you around,
Irog

Windows 11 [Update - Ridiculous Min Requirements]

author=AtiyaTheSeeker
I don't know jack about code so Linux is out the window

Using Linux doesn't require coding though it can help. Like most modern operating systems, Linux has a full graphical user interface. You can try Linux without installing it simply by loading a Linux distribution on a USB thumbstik. Insert the thumbstik to a USB port then boot and see for yourself. Linux offers 2 main advantages: it's free and it needs less hardware resources to run. If you have a old PC than doesn't meet the Windows hardware requirements, you can most certainly run Linux on it.

Release Maker Birthday~

Did my reviews count for the event badge ?

1.44 Floppy Disc Event

Thank you El_WaKa for taking the time to play my game. Your feedback is very valid. In the meantime I worked on the enemy AI and brought some other improvements to the game. You'll find the new version here if you want to try it.

Your event was a fun challenge. Thanks again for the work you put in to organize it !

Easy image scrolling

When we look at game images in the Images section of its game page, it would be nice if we could scroll images by pressing keyboard arrows (left and right). This feature would complement, not replace, the existing "mouse click the green arrows".

Unchained

Congratulations Decky on winning The Golden Disk. I'm looking forward for Unchained expanded version !

Seasons of RMN IV

Thank you Libby for the badges.

Dy, I laughed so hard reading your post ! :-)

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

author=Gretgor
So, since my egg hunt project that I will be doing outside of the Seasons jam (I will need that time to work on my thesis) will involve more action than my other games so far, there are tons and tons of different states and animations the player character can be in at any given time. And that, in turn, can lead to copious amounts of bugs of the "get stuck in a particular animation state" or "become unable to do certain action" type.

So, in order to organize my ideas better and try to avoid this kind of bug taking place, I created a spreadsheet detailing all animation and state changes that I intend to add to the game.

My question now is: is this actually me organizing my thoughts, or is it me procrastinating while telling myself I'm doing work?

Gretgor, your spreadsheet is an excellent idea ! In a project that only has 4 states (walk, sprint, smell and eat), my animation code quickly became a mess. The large number of states in your game makes it vital to keep things organized. What is the meaning of the red cells in your spreadsheet ?

Lihinel, you've made very handy tool. Do you plan to release it's source code? I've recently made a very basic shmup and would like to see how your advanced bullet movement system works.
