Hi all !
I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.
I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip
I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !
See you around,
Irog

How do you give maker score to someone for his media?
Media covers a large set of contribution types: concept art, soundtrack, video... So the associated maker score is inevitably too small for some contributions and too much for others.
15 MS is too small for a video, if you compare it to 50 MS for a review
15 MS is too much for a concept art, if you compare it to 1 MS for a screenshot
The MS earned for a media submission should depend on its type.

Nice to meet you all!
Welcome. Enjoy playing and making games at RMN.
If you're interested in specific game genders, you can apply them as filter criteria to the RMN list of games.
I like Action RPG, action adventure, turn based strategy (Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is my all time favorite... you can see its influence on my first game), a bit of RTS and FPS but retro-gaming style... and LARP.

5 Steps to Write Better Female Characters
Great read! I've always thought that giving manly traits to a female character was a poor way to build a strong female character. Hana from "The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki" is such a great character and has no manly traits forced onto her by the writer. I never managed to figure out the exact character building process but you did with the passive vs active approach. I like the way you present it; how a character needs goals; and take actions to achieve those goals. And more importantly how the writer needs to get inside the character's head. This is the equivalent of "get inside the player's head" to design human-like AI.
author=bicfarmerI think the same. Probably because I don't get enough good recommendations to avoid the tropes.
hard to find good anime these days when they are sunk so deep in these tropes, its pretty sad.

I found a few tracks to replace the most repetitive ones in MinST. Now that the Revive the dead 2 event is over (Its deadline was extended by 1 day), I'll receive some feedback on my game. I've made a lot of progress but it's not finished yet. The engine is 95% done and I still need to build the campaign mode and its story. I understand the difficulties you have to compose tracks for MinST. It isn't what you're looking for.
It is best indeed that you work on a project that inspires you. I'm glad Wizard apprentice Lya does!
Yes, we should have a talk on discord so you can easily ask questions. I'll contact you via private message to organize the talk and sent more information about Lya. (I call the project "Lya" for short).

Ok, I'll clarify.
They are 2 projects I'm working on:
* Wizard apprentice Lya, an adventure top-down shooter
* MinST, a turn based strategy
This site organizes the Revive the dead 2 event where you take an old project, revive it and do your best to finish it. MinST has been untouched for quite a while and this event is a great opportunity for me to finish this project. So I let Wizard apprentice Lya on hold for the duration of the event.
When I saw your proposal, I thought Wizard apprentice Lya requires the type of music you like to create. And your last track perfectly fits the game needs.
Meanwhile, a tester reported that MinST music tracks are too repetitive. I know turn based strategy isn't what you're looking for but... Would you like to help me on that?
You're right: I, being a programmer, should not require the new tracks to be a given duration. You, the musician, have better skills at dealing with the issue. The current tracks are in the "res" folder of the game once unzipped and the exact quote from the tester is "Music is extremely repetitive and I find I can't really stand it for more than a few minutes.". Ideally, I would like Heroes of Might and Magic III type of tracks. And yes, it sounds like I'm trowing you in at the very end of development... ;-)

Guileless87 made a letsplay of Red Balloon of Happiness. I added it as media for the game and apparently, I'll get MS points but not him. Is there a way Guileless87 receives the MS he deserves?
[Offer] I can do let's plays for your game
Thanks a lot guileless! Your feedback is really appreciated (more on that via PM... spoiler heavy).

Don't be sorry, I was working on MinST for the Revive the dead 2 event which ends on the 3rd December.
There is still a lot I need to build in Lya's engine before I can create a lot of game content that requires new music tracks. I could always use a few new tracks while expanding the current game prototype.
For now, you can work on projects that are closer to completion and squeeze in a few requests for Lya. ;-)
I'll come back to you after the Revive the dead 2 event.
<edit>
Actually, a tester of MinST reported that the current tracks are very repetitive. The tracks are about 1 min 30, this is too short. This tactic turn based game focuses on careful planning so it needs longer tracks. I think about 4 minutes. They should convey a sens of tension while enabling player thinking. Rhythm should be a bit slower than for action oriented tracks. If you're interested, you can check the game to experience what the player will be doing while. In your local install of the game, you can directly replace the current tracks (in the folder "res") with your owns to hear how well they fit in.
