This looks beautiful and it perfectly fits the atmosphere of the game. Your artists have really excelled themselves. I can't wait to finally play the new version.

@yuna21 and Liberty:
Cashmere's original idea was to use your avatars as your face graphics. So except if you don't want that, you can probably save yourselves the work of making one specifically for this game.

Looking for satisfying RPG maker games in all shapes/sizes/colors

If you are interested in story-heavy games, I'd also highly recommend Master of the Wind and the Reconstruction series, or perhaps Star Stealing Prince. For shorter, more light-hearted games, you could try for example The Grumpy Knight or In Search of Immortality.
Have fun playing games!

Making the story into a journey

This is great advice! I had run into a similar problem with two game ideas I've been working on. These are tips I should really keep in mind if I don't want to completely alienate the player from the actual gameplay and story. Thanks!

UNITY IS A WOMAN!?

Ehh, well... actually, unity's profile says "Gender: Welp". I just somehow assumed unity to be a woman. Oops, I'm sorry... Verbal headbutt to myself.

And of course, how could we forget Ronove? Games like Star Stealing Prince and Homework Salesman don't just appear out of nothing.

@JJJ7: Have you ever heard of the mysterious lady named Liberty? Or Indra? Or unity?
The time where all gamers were expected to be male is over, fortunately.

Edit: And I'm too slow again. The Site Overlord beat me to it.
I should really visit the IRC soon, by the way.

But think about it! Hundreds of gam mak nerds together in one place. It'd be paradise! We would talk about game design, have gaming contests, make lame RMN inside jokes and be like one big family...

...until the first troll shows up, or people start arguing over which maker is superior, or someone meets another member who wrote a bad review for his game, and it all becomes a horrible chaos...

Ah, whatever, it would still be awesome.

Cashmere, do you have any plan yet on how long you want this game to be? Because with all the material you have already, it looks like it could become bigger than initially expected.

I feel like I'm not well-known enough to be a part of this, buuuuut... why not, de geso?

Is that a joke? You're, like, one of the most conspicuous people here (even when you're not making games).
And please tell me, I gotta know: What the heck does "de geso~" even mean?!

Name your maker!

I only use XP. Not because it's necessarily better than other makers, but more because it's the only one I own and I've gotten used to it. I do think the graphical style of the XP tilesets and characters is much better than the blocky VX Ace graphics or the pixelated 2k style. And XP's mapping really is good. But let's face it: VX Ace is superior in terms of functionality, and it's way more user-friendly. XP doesn't even support facesets by default. I mean, seriously?
My main reason (apart from money) for not switching to a newer maker is probably that after using XP for about seven years now, I've finally got somewhat of a feeling for how the program works, and I don't really feel like learning the characteristics of a new maker now. Guess I'll stick with XP 'till the end.

As much as I love reviewing, I'm actually a newbie on that front... the reviewing team is headed by Solitayre who is one of the deans and handles the submission queue for the Aremen Gazette. Addit is the treasurer for the Aremen Gazette and I can have you signed up for the club too. For story purposes though, Cashmere isn't in the club.

Thanks, that would be pretty cool - although I'm not sure I deserve to be hanging with the cool kids (I'm much more of a "newbie" than you).
Alternatively, you could just make me the annoying wise-guy who's always rambling about what a great game Master of the Wind is...

@Dyhalto: As far as I know, this game will be made with VX Ace, not XP. So, no worries.
