Let's have a serious discussion about homebrew RPGMaker games.

Yeah, agreed with what Craze said.

I set it in my game so that you only enter places that have open doors. If it's closed, it's locked and you can't enter. No exceptions. If it's open, you can enter. That way, there's no need for the player to keep checking to see if something happens. I don't intend to change that either, or else people will want to go and start trying all the other doors in case they missed something. Once you get a key, the door will automatically be open, so you don't have to try the doors. I try to avoid doing stuff like this is the key to one of the doors in one of the buildings in this town, because then it'll be hard to remember which door was just opened by the key and which ones have already been open.

I'm going to go back in the game and make sure this is the case, as I'm hoping I didn't accidently break this once or something.

Also, there are certain objects that will guarantee you get something from it, and the same thing.

Reasonable scope. I've seen a few projects that boasted 9999 maps, 999 enemies, 300 characters, 100+ hours of gameplay, stuff like that. I'm an impatient person, so I tend not to want to make my game any more than 10 hours. For me, long doesn't equal fun. I'd rather have a 20 minute game that's really fun than a 320 hour game that bores me.

I do have a few that do, but it's in the Marsall Library. However, you have the option to skip them so if you accidently check out the bookcase, you don't need to read through all of it again.

And thanks! I'm really hoping for a later this year release, but we'll see.

Making autotiles work. I always use my own graphics or original graphics made by someone else, and by far, autotiles are just the worst and most frustrating thing ever.
What type of auto-tiles? Use a 8 pixel grid when you're doing corners, and 16 pixel grid for everything else. I dunno, I don't find them too hard to do. How are you currently doing them?

Ocean stuffs

Is it bad if I say that look was intended?

Heheh. But yeah, Shinobu from 2x2 Shinobuden has a round face rather than a chin with a v shape. I liked the look of it, so that's why I did that. So yeah, I'm aware of that, it's just intentional. I don't do that for every single drawing.

Finally finished working on the books in this Library. Now off to do more quests and monsters and stuff.

The Official RMN Cooking/Food Discussion

I don't cook often. I tend not to be home most of the time (I'll be either at school or work until late generally). Also, there's really not much good stuff in the refrigerator should I actually be home, so... yeah.

My mom cooks. She used to be better at it, but lately I'll just see the food and instead go out to eat because it has no flavor or anything. Otherwise, I'll go make myself a sandwich, Macaronies and Cheese, have a can of chef boyardee or something simple like that. I don't make all that much money, so I don't buy myself groceries, else I might try cooking more often. Also, I'm picky when it comes to food and don't like a big variety of stuff. So should I need to cook for myself, I can always go online and find some recipes assuming I have the ingredients.

But otherwise, I generally don't like cooking all that much, as I'd rather be on the computer doing stuff.

Hard Parts of Game Making?

Free time. I'd love to work on the game as much as I can, but then with 2 jobs + university, I can't always find the time for it. Especially since I want to graduate soon, hopefully this semester.

Otherwise, everything is either easy or tedious, or just requires a good bit of working at it. There are times when I'll be stumped in the coding part (Especially in the DBS since I don't use it often), but then I'll just ask someone to help.

Old-School vs. New-School

Because graphics that look bad to you look good to them. Stylistic thing.
