UbiSoft Games You WON'T be Playing Starting Next Week
"Oh, let's fight piracy by making our releases unplayable, therefore actually encouraging piracy"
Wait, what?
.....
Anyways, Ubisoft won't be seeing any money from me either, these sorts of DRM only hurt the actual paying players, pirates always find a way to play the games, usually without any of the trouble that the paying players have to go through.

Dragon Age again, maybe this time I will finish it.
But already I am having lots of fun.
*speaks to the king in Ostagar*
King: "Tell me, how is it, living in the alienage? My guards forbid me to go there."
Me: "I killed the Arl's son for raping my friend."
King: "You.....whaaaaaa?"
Priceless.

Jedi Knight Jedi Academy, this game came to my mind, and if I recall correctly, I had a blast playing it, so I am replaying it (again).
So far I remember all the missions I completed, must have played it more than I thought a few years back. Still great fun though.
I want my double-bladed lightsaber already, bah...

Finished Games 2012
The only game I actually finished this year was Bulletstorm.
Some aspects of it were pretty meh, but the combat was spot-on. Now I cant get into older shooters, because they feel boring compared to the skill-shots and charge shots of Bulletstorm. And I did like the humor, even though the main character is a total a**hole.

Playing Tales of Eternia for the PSP, undub version. Finally can enjoy the game, the english dub was killing my ears in the PS1 version. Just got to Celestia.
Hopefully my version doesn't have the dreadful volt glitch that I read about, making progress in the game impossible. I read somewhere that you have the volt glitch if your monster collection book is in japanese, and since mine is in english, I should be fine.... I hope. Having to use somebody else's save game just to progress in the game is just crap (effectively losing your own progress and playing someone else's...that is NOT acceptable for me). I also read that it doesn't occur in game version 2.5 or higher, but since I don't know what version I have...

<INCOMING LONG POST>
I can't seem to focus on one game at a time, plus my attention span is terrible these days, I keep trying different games, looking for some that "scratch my itch".
Skyrim was crap on the PS3 for me, and getting Dark Souls was a bit of a mistake... the game is rewarding when you finally finish a level/beat a boss, but getting that done is sometimes(always?) incredibly frustrating. Plus the framerate in certain areas is just utter crap (Blighttown, New Londo Ruins, area around Hydra, some forest areas...)
Seeing that my gaming time is limited now, thanks to my job, I decided not to spend it on a game that makes me ANGRY and frustrates me to no end at times.
Been trying some RPGs, mainly for PSP :
- ZHP caught my eye (as I tend to like NIS games), interesting gameplay to say the least (mix between Disgaea and a rogue-like?)
- Ys Oath in Felghana seems light on the RPG elements, but looks quite fun
- Fire Breath 3 I couldn't get into, the game feels sooo slow (dialog, combat especially)
- Star Ocean 1, no, just no...
- ClaDun has nice humor, but the action-combat gameplay doesn't offer much
- Fallout 1, kept hearing good things about it, but I'm more of a sword/magic guy, don't like guns too much in RPGs, plus the combat felt pretty "meh", and while I don't mind old graphics, in Fallout it is hard to spot anything anywhere, the UI is clunky...
- Icewind Dale 1 is fun, but it feels like I am cheating my way through... Encounter--> Game Over --> Load and try again --> Rinse and repeat
Nothing that really catches my eye and makes me want to play more (other than ZHP at the moment, and perhaps Ys, but I'm really not a fan of attack-button-mashing games).
I am hard to please when it comes to games nowadays, where are those times when I could just mindlessly grind away dozens of hours in Ragnarok Online or replay Max Payne 2 again and again....
Mid-gaming crisis? :D I hope Torchlight 2, Guild Wars 2 or D3 will get released soon... or some "Tales of" game for the PS3 would be nice, but Graces is far away for Europe(summer :/), and even America only gets it in March.... sigh. Maybe I should try to get a PS2 for all the rpgs I've been wanting to play (the PS2 tales games, God Hand, FF X and many others), but that's not a good option, because all those games are HARD to come by in my country.
Maybe I should just man up, stick to one game and simply have fun without overthinking it too much...
PS: Hope it's not that much of an off-topic.
EDIT: At least I never get bored of Modern Warfare 2.... 41/0/5 score, just because SO MANY people dont use Cold Blooded in team deathmatch :
1) Hardline Pro
2) Predator missile
3) Harrier
4) Pavelow
5) ????
6) Profit!

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
I sold my copy of Skyrim (the FPS on the PS3 was getting worse and worse, still no fix, and 1.4 won't probably adress it either, might be broken forever, FUCK YOU Bethesda, such an awesome game, such a crappy version).
Instead I bought Dark Souls. I was reluctant, since Demons Souls was tough enough, and I only got through once, but the experience was quite unique, so I figured, why not. So far, so awesome, but that's probably because I didn't die yet (in other words, haven't really played it for more than 30 minutes).
I am hoping to get through with a melee class, then do it again with mage-oriented class (pure mage seems impossible from what I read, which is a letdown, but some sort of hybrid might work).
EDIT: AAAAAH, Dark Souls is total bollocks. Catacombs - bollocks. Capra demon - utter and total bollocks. Demons Souls was at least fair, Dark Souls not so much, feels just cheap at times. I am slowly getting through, but after losing my hard earned 20k souls from a boss by falling in a hole and dying, followed by quick death by a swarm of those little spike-wheel guys.... I feel like breaking something. Will have to play the game in smaller chunks, so I don't get frustrated too much... Did I mention that Capra demon was total bulls**t?

Hexen?
Heh, what a coincidence, I am currently playing Heretic, with Hexen being on the "to play" list. I just got an itch for some old school shooters, like Doom or Duke Nukem 3D, and I only ever played like the first two levels of Heretic.
Also, Blood is another one of those "types" of shooters, quite fun (I LIIIIIIIVE). Plus the hidden references (grave of "The raven", with the hero saying "nevermore" in an incredibly awesome voice). But I guess many people remember Blood.
I wish they would make shooters like those again, with better graphics, keyboard/mouse controls, many secrets and huge non-linear levels. Not like shooters today...
Final Fantasy XIII-2.....
After seeing the gameplay video, I finally decided to stay away from this game.
Sure, all the changes sound nice, but the battle system is still basically the same, the camera is all over the place, still no direct control over party characters (kinda, but I still hate the paradigm shift battle system)... No equipment hunting/ugprading worth writing about, just like in FF 13, no stats other than attack, hp and defense again it seems... And quicktime events... instead of watching the epic scene that is happening, you are concentrating on mashing the right buttons. QTE didn't bother me during skills in Dissidia for example, but during story scenes... sigh
The added exploration is a huge plus, but it doesn't fix what was wrong with FF 13, FOR ME anyways. I just hope they would release some FF game that "feels right", like the earlier games did (I recently played FF1 for the first time, and I finished it, liked it much more that FF13 for example, where I only got to Gran Pulse before giving up).
Like maybe a game that has epic story and characters (like FF 6), open world, dungeons, upgraded TB or ATB battle system (or a new one that doesn't take away direct CONTROL from the player), acceptable camera, lots of equipment and SKILLS to get/find, but no random encounters.
It just seems to me that FF 13/13-2 spend too much time looking pretty, rather than actually being great games. But maybe that's just me. If you enjoyed FF 13, that's of course fine, different people like different things, and if it's fun for you, that's all that matters. I just wish for something more, and Square won't be getting my money for this (unless the game comes out and everybody totally flips out about how great it is, then I might reconsider).

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
Persona 3 for my new PSP, undubbed version. The SMT games kinda grew up on me during my "tasting" of Strange Journey and Devil Survivor (didn't finish those games, because playing DS games on the emulator started to give me "motion sickness" of sorts, plus the framerate and sound quality was choppy).
While Persona 2 (don't remember which one) didn't appeal to me (the combat system didn't "click", plus random battles...), P3P gripped me immediately. Full control of all my characters is what I like. Plus the setting is... well, kinda hard to describe, but it feels fresh and exciting compared to more "traditional" rpgs I've been playing lately.
EDIT: Also, Civilization 4. Now I know what everybody ment by "Just one more turn". Can't be helped, I finally erased Japan from the map, only to be attacked by 3 other nations right after that, from two different directions, by land and sea, with Julius Caesar leading the charge. I am barely holding it together, luckily for me, I have vastly superior naval forces (my dreadnoughts vs their galleys... hehehe), and only one enemy is on the same continets as me, so as long as I can sink all those enemy ships (and the land forces onboard), I should be fine.
