You see not a bird but an American lady who likes other ladies. Oscillates between shy as a mouse and babbling violently, seemingly at random.
I like badasses. I like babes. I like badass babes the best. Okay...actually I like doggoes the very best, but I aspire to make games about badass babes is my point.
I use music from bands and artists in the free games I make: the frustrated filmmaker in me is very enamored of scoring scenes with rock'n'roll soundtracks Scorcese or Tarantino style. In addition to being a time honored tradition in cinema, this has a history in AAA videoogames as well (for a really great use of it, see Bioshock: Infinite). If I was a millionaire, I'd totally license these songs so I could actually use them legally.

Hey Jester Spirit!
I definitely want to commish some more stuff from you, but I am gonna gripe that on the last commish you did for me (the jeep and the dragon faces), there were more than a few errant pixels I had to scrub once I got the resources in engine in order to get everything clean looking. I'm more'n happy to hire you again but, when I pay money, I definitely super don't want to have to clean up the junk pixels myself. Hope you don't think I'm being too harsh.
That car/gif movie is freakin' dope.

*Looks at avi* There, that's better.

That's not a crow
I honestly think the crow was somehow contributing to everyone thinking I was a dude. Also, Edea is pretty cool. I will probably change it back to an image of a crow eventually (so no Esby you are not the last corvidae).

Am I the worst for initially mistaking "avi" as a reference to movie files?
I am the worst.

I too thought this was a movie format
I have NEVER understood why the shortened version of "avatar" is "avi" because THERE IS NO I IN THE WORD AVATAR. But thinking of the movie format, I did double check before I posted this status, and avi does seem to be the preferred abbreviation for avatar on most of the webs.
anyway certainly can't blame anyone for thinking of ".avi" files as I was considering the possible confusion when I posted the status
[Poll] [Vote] RMN Mascot!
1) Halibabica's Lady Aremen (what I voted for duh)

5) Dyluck's Mascot

You'll love the use of status effects if you decide to farm Malboros (harder than anything else in the game imo).
hahaha yeah after I got back from my date I actually spent the rest of last night farming Marlboros in Grandidi for their tentacles so I could get Doomtrain because I took like three tries at the Deep Sea Research center and I got my ass kicked three times, and only the last time by Bahamut. So I was like "screw the deep sea research center, let me do some other quests".
MOAR FF8
Anyway what finally wound up working, I think, was junctioning the 71 Berserk I had betwixt my party members to Irvine. That way when it squirted acid on him he'd only be blind, silent, poisoned, and petrifying and fortunately had the Item command so he could throw around some remedies. Fortunately they don't seem to Bad Breath again for a good long time after the opening one. Fuckers have a lot of HP too I was pretty shocked when I demi'd it and saw 9999 come up.
I got two by mugging and none on the drop from the one high-level Marlboro I legitimately killed using Demi, Firaga, rinse, repeat, and then a lucky Zansetsuken scored me another 8 on the drop. It was probably the happiest I'd ever been to see Odin. If Zansetsuken is indeed a flat 12.9% percent as everyone said, my Zansetsuken "dice luck" has been ridiculous. There was a long string where Odin was showing up two out of every three fights, easy. It was getting to the point of being more frustrating than anything else, like, let me fight some battles, damn it, it's the point of the game!
Now I just gotta get Alexander to learn Med Data so he can learn whatever the thing is that lets me make a Remedy+.
I remember really quite hating 8 when it came out because it was not more like 7 and I think a lot of people still feel that way to this day, at least I've always had the impression it was the dark horse of the series. As I recall the process of leveling up in 7 was very straightforward and in 8 it's intricately counter-intuitive (keep your levels low but your GF's levels high and all that really matters is what spells you junction, how much, and where). The only thing that I still dislike about the game that I disliked when I was young is that Squall is one of the most unrelatable, unlikable protagonists in anything, ever, but at least he does have a clear character arc, even if it takes forever to develop and he's still mostly an asshole to everyone after he remembers how to have FEELINGS.

There's a part of me (the part of me that clearly doesn't ever want me to get a real paying job lol) that really wants to systematically play all of the Final Fantasy games and compare their writing and mechanics in a kind of quasi-ethnography of Square/Squenix based on their cultural output. Or more likely that's a fancy academic sounding excuse for just wanting to binge videogames (and overthink them). Still though I wonder, if I did that kind of pseudo-academic study, would anyone read it?
IS FINAL FANTASY 8 THE MOST "HIGH TECH" FINAL FANTASY SETTING? I know it's hard to tell because the world-building re: technology is highly obscured by magic and monsters and nonsense. But it seems to be, at least on the surface. I had no idea what the tech base was supposed to be in X, it was just a gibberish world made of nonsense where you used a fucking soccer ball as a weapon.
I haven't played RE:CV since it was new (true of most of the REs actually though I did play some of the REmakes). I remember at the time being stupendously amazed by it and thinking it was the best RE evar. I have literally no recollection of Steve (mercifully?), but that scene was hilarious. Is it me or does Steve look like a cheap knockoff of Rion from Galerians?

Screwing around with ARMA 3's Eden Editor. I'm making a mission about a Nationalist Party sniper in Chernarus.
Very unfamiliar with ARMA, but anything where the level editor legit lets you make a mission about something immediately peaks my interest.

author=Marrendauthor=StormCrowSo, let's say we have an actor with, I dunno, 75 LUCK attempting to apply a state to an enemy with 50 LUCK. That formula plug-and-chugs into...[1.0 + (user.luk - luk) * 0.001, 0.0].max
For the math/programming impaired, would someone care to break down this default formula for luck effecting status rates? I can't make any sense of it honestly.[1.0 + (75 - 50) * 0.001, 0.0].max
...something like this. After we do the math...[1.0 + 25 * .0001, 0.0].max [1.0 + 0.025, 0.0].max [1.025, 0.0].max
...the ".max" function, in this instance, looks at the values passed to it, and returns the largest amount. In this case, it returns 1.025 (as it is bigger than 0.0), which, in turn, translates to a 102.5% (probably rounds down to 102%) chance of applying the state.
*Edit: I assume state resistance multiples this even more. So, if a battler has a 75% resistance rate to the state in question, using the above example, I think the actual rate that the state woulds be applied turns into 76.875% (probably 76%)?
So, how come in the damage formulae it uses a.luk and b.luk to designate caster and target, and in the actual script it uses user.luk (obvious) for the caster and just luk (???) for the target? If there even is a reason, I mean.
In this case, it returns 1.025 (as it is bigger than 0.0)
Why is the step of comparing it to 0.0 in there/necessary? Thanks for telling me what .max is, btw, that was stumping me.
Anyway by default, a 2% increase to your chance to inflict a status effect for having 150% of the enemy's Luck stat seems like a terrible return on investment (well 98% of RM games you don't get to choose where your characters' points go but you know what I mean), but I'm happy they had Luck do SOMETHING baked into the engine at least and not LITERALLY NOTHING as I'd kind of assumed until making this thread.

oh, you're a girl. well, that's... hi i am also a gril
and that said, the reason my title changed was because I changed it for fun after seeing that comment you made so... that was more cause/effect than chance happening
I was kidding about that too, Libby : P

Freaking heck, I now remember that I was once surprised at finding out you were a girl StormCrow, sorry.
No worries. I've been told I "talk like a guy" in person so on the internet yeah, this is not the first time, probably won't be the last.
Swap in the Middle with Two
I was kidding! lol. But maybe I shouldn't have because occasionally the random things I say actually happen for real like when Liberty's user title became "I will murder you all.".
Oh, uh...
Sorry, I hate to be that person but it's been happening kind of a lot. I do get it, my default assumption for online entities is also male. And I guess my...bird...avatar is kind of masculine? lol I'm kind of reaching with that one.
Oh, uh...

There was no finished version of Parallel Shores due to computer issues on my part. Frogge and I have decided to work on it together for a future 'Finish yo games' event tho.
There should be an event called FINISH YO' GAMES where you have to finish all of your unfinished projects, ever, within a month, and instead of getting a badge or a reward if you succeed, you get banne if you fail.
I have no idea what I am saying that was just the first thing to spring to mind when I read 'Finish yo games'. I think you're probably referring to the Revive The Dead thingies.

Nope, CNT never reflects physical attacks, it provides a chance to strike back right after the enemy's attack aka some common counterattack.
I am 98% sure that it actually just reflects physical attacks. Don't get me wrong, how you're describing it is exactly how I think it should work by default, but it is not how I've observed it to work.
author=Marrend
*Edit: Zoe from my Theme Roulette game has a skill that applies an state with an MRF feature, but, I"m not 100% sure if I could tell you how it determined what damage was reflected back. Both CNT and MRF were set to 100% with that skill, though, so, if she was hit with anything (1000% TGR was also granted with that skill ), the enemy is gonna take some damage.
And she didn't, as I recall, take any damage when hit with physical attacks, she just reflected them right back. Likewise the last boss of the first episode of Road To Paradise was not taking and returning hits when his innate 50% Counterattack triggered, he was just reflecting them. But the damage was generally higher than it would have been from the attacking character (his ATK was close to twice the ATK of the most powerful physical attacker in the party) so that's why I wondered if the damage was recalculated based on the reflecting character's ATK with CNT.
Thanks for the info btw!
Random: for years I have been giving "ghostly" or "insubstantial" enemies a high EVA and if powerful enough a lower MEV too. Now I'm thinking that a resistance to the Physical element or a lowered PDR might be a better way to go as it's less "all or nothing" and less potential frustration.
