Well if the Patreon is for you making games in general and there's nothing linking it too explicitly to that specific fangame, you should be able to fly under even Bethesda's trigger-happy-lawyers' radar.

Say you make Tallest-Reed super popular on ES forums, and possibly have a link on your website or somewhere to a Patreon funding your other games. Nothing illegal or even cease-and-desisty there as you don't advertise the Patreon in relationship to T-R. The fact that a fangame brought you fans is hardly objectable.

In any case, I'll definitely chip in!

Not sure it helps, but unfinished projects and all, you're one of the very best devs on this site as far as I'm concerned. Off the top of my head, I can only name two or three active devs here whose work is comparable in terms of quality, originality and scope.

The amount of work gam mak takes is mindboggling though. Think you could attempt the "get a first draft out quick" technique of having very low standards until you have something with a beginning and an end, and then iterate on that instead? That would allow you to actually decide when it is sufficiently finished, rather than having to push forward endlessly.


PS: Normal lives are for casuals. Mine's already out the window.

Back when they came out, those games were the bomb.
(well the first one was always a tad clunky, but the other two significantly improved on it, as I remember; plus obvious Suikoden fangame so everything's forgiven)

Yeah maybe my impression of stiffness was just from the animations rather than the gameplay itself; I guess only playtest will tell. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending), gameplay is easier to fiddle with than animations.

Fancy! Though it's hard to tell from a video, the only thing that looks like it might need more polish is the platformer gameplay (the constant acceleration jumps and perhaps the camera). Everything else seems quite a bit beyond alpha quality.

I'd have given more of them to Free Spirits, but indeed some spread is good (even more spread would be better, but there were just not that many good games that year, I guess :P)

Goodness gracious, this has really spiralled out of control. I decided not to add more noise, but I'll try for a piece or two of constructive feedback where I can; everyone else, consider yourself complimented in a non-constructive way.

World Map is hard to read. Very pretty trailer; considering the level of attention given to stuff like animations, a non-default UI would be worth considering (basic RM battle menus are the worst).

Pretty drawing. It could be nifty to try putting a filter on the rest of the game to have the same tone; that could have more personality than grayscale.
