IROG'S PROFILE

Hi all !

I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.

I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip

I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !

See you around,

Also Partner-wise, I dunno, I'd happily grab someone but it's hard to keep track of the offers, I'll happily team up.

Do you want to team up with me?

What do you like or dislike about RM Horror games?

author=chibievil
What i hate about the RM horror games, is they all have the exact same chase scenes, always stuck in a stupid mansion. They never give u any weapons, the only way to survive is to out run your enemies. Come on be original, give us something to defend ourselves, use something different.

In our game, you never get chased. You can walk out the house if you want. The light source you handle is more than "a safe area of light".

stating what one hates about a game helps too. It tells devs what to avoid.

100 % true !

Jump scars are reason I tend to dislike horror games. I much prefer a game that revolves around a good mystery. Everything looks good from afar but when you look closely, you notice odd elements. These odd elements pick your curiosity and the deeper you investigate, the more horrific it gets. Your inner desire to solve the mystery fight your need to stay in safety areas. I think Dreaming Mary does it brilliantly and inspired our creation for the Halloween event. I admit that we broke many conventions of the horror type. I like the way we altered the game exit functionality.

Also, Hana is a badass mom, I'm sure Irog won already

Yes she is! Raising two children alone requires a lot of courage that is often seen as not praiseworthy. You, the keeper of multiple time lines, knows what a mom-deprived child can do.

Hopefully this is the last time we hear about something like this happening in this sort of community.

I hope you're right. We can achieve it if we are vigilant.

Fanciness and cut-off score

See your first project as a learning exercise. It must be small so you can complete it. A one month duration is about the right size. That's why events often have a one month development time. You'll feel proud of completing your first learning exercise.

There will always be games better that our own somewhere and it is very easy to feel ashamed of our first creations. Fear not, play on your strengths and show what you can do. Events are a great place to start and overcome the initial apprehension. You'll receive valuable feedback to improve your next projects.

My first project had a horrible ASCII display that flickered every frame but I was able to make a game that didn't crash while running a functioning AI. I was proud of this first achievement. The feedback I received helped me a lot to improve it and benefited my next projects.

You draw great art and you already built a game demo of The Cleaner that far exceeds "worthy of submission".
