I've been a fan and follower of RPG Maker games of all sorts since 2012. My all-time favourite has to be "Love and War: Act I", closely followed by "The Way" and "Romancing Walker". (Yes, I'm weird that way!)

I'm not particularly good at game design, though I can write plot-lines reasonably well. While waiting for the rest of Love and War to come out, I've also written three full-length stories set in the Love and War universe, which you can read over at the Love and War forums. (I go by Professor Q over there, surprise, surprise!)

I also enjoy reviewing games, though I tend to write about games I enjoyed playing. If a review of mine sounds critical, it's meant to spur the developer to do better.

I'm also experimenting with RPG Makers XP and VX, so watch this space.

No, it's Romancing Walker. There is nothing quite like it in the RPG world, and there probably never will be.
Considering how much I like games with properly executed Relationship Values, as well as humorous and lighthearted RPGs, and given that my intention in joining this community is to actually make games, let's just say I hope that's not the case.
Make a Romancing Walker-esce game of decent quality and I guarantee that I'll be the first fan and subscriber ;)

Of course, if either of you does get there first, I will be among the first to subscribe, play, and heartily applaud.

Shhh....that's my next game project. =)

(No, I'm not kidding. It's going to be an affectionate tribute to RW, but set in a science-fictional rather than fantasy setting, and with an odd combat / spell system. I already have the storyline, some of the moves, and three major characters down, but I have to finish my current work-in-progress first!)

Reviewrim Voting Period - winner(s)!

Wow. I'm speechless. Thank you so much for taking the time to play the games and write this review.

It's things like these that make all the effort worthwhile.

Always welcome! And thanks again for a great game! =)

The Elder Scribes of RMN: Reviewrim

Congratulations to Addit! =)

And kudos to the organizers as well. This was fun.

Your rating confuses me. If story got a 4/5 and graphics the same, how does one end up with a perfect 5?

Not to say this game isn't good and everything's subjective to each individuals interpretation just.. :\

My review scores aren't generally averages - for example, my Rime of the Ancient Mariner review would average a 2.5, but the game gets a 3.5 because it's a novel and fresh use of the RPG medium. Similarly, my score on this would average to 4.25 (17 out of 20), but I give it a 5 simply because it's so likeable. =)

Sympathy for the devil....and clearing the decks.

Have you read The Prince, by Machiavelli? He gives a great example of the "good villain" and a fascinating discussion of "imaginary truth" and "effectual truth"

I did flip through my brother's copy a while back, but I guess I should take another look!

Morality exists in the imaginary world, and is an imaginary truth. This is because good exists in the human mind. Imaginary is what we want, what we think we should be and what we can't see rather than what is

I'm a bit of a Platonist on this one. But your point is well made.

author=Leigh
Reality exists in the effectual world, and is an effectual truth. Good here exists in terms of self-interest. It also means you know how to "use cruelty well" so that you are not hated. No politician or prince can follow a moral image of what is good without being ruined. All that really needs to be done is learn how to make the imaginary and effectual exist without disturbing each other

The point on "using cruelty well" is a great one, because it's explored several times in the story I'm telling.

Blah, blah, blah.

Oh, don't feel bad, I can be quite loquacious too!

Well, I didn't know you were a writer too! Do you have a fictionpress or fanfiction account?

Calling me a "writer" is way too charitable. I write as a hobby, true.

My Fan-Fiction account is here: https://www.fanfiction.net/~qtheprofessor

Thank you so much for a such wonderful yet detailed review, Professor_Q! You don't know how much it means for me and other game developers to have their gamed reviewed! I will do my best fixing the grammar issues in future project, along with other issues. XD

Actually, I'm the one who should be thanking you for creating a game that brightened my day and brought a smile to my face - something I can certainly use in this particular time. =)

Don't sweat the grammar too much - I'm a bit of a pain when it comes to grammar, and the other elements in your game certainly outweighed it.

Enjoying Ningyo Heart so far. I'll have a review up once I finish it, (which should be soon, work permitting.) ^_^

Awesome! It was my first game so I was kinda hesitant to repost it, but I'm glad you like it so far.

I enjoy stories which blend the personal and the political, so it was sort of preordained. =)

I saw this and the pending review for a certain classic RM game with the headline "A Change of Seasons" and couldn't help but realize that you're a fellow Dream Theater fan :3

Indeed, I am! I've been a fan ever since a friend of mine at college lent me a CD of theirs, which he believed was a Guns N' Roses CD (it's a long story..) =)

Seein' them on my birthday in March at that special concert in Boston :D

Well, a happy birthday to you in advance, and have a great time! (Boy, am I envious - perhaps they will come to India some day, though.) ^_^

Also, love what I've seen of "Carlsev Saga" so far. Roland reminds me a bit of myself - at least the grouchy part of him :-D
