PROFESSOR_Q'S PROFILE
I've been a fan and follower of RPG Maker games of all sorts since 2012. My all-time favourite has to be "Love and War: Act I", closely followed by "The Way" and "Romancing Walker". (Yes, I'm weird that way!)
I'm not particularly good at game design, though I can write plot-lines reasonably well. While waiting for the rest of Love and War to come out, I've also written three full-length stories set in the Love and War universe, which you can read over at the Love and War forums. (I go by Professor Q over there, surprise, surprise!)
I also enjoy reviewing games, though I tend to write about games I enjoyed playing. If a review of mine sounds critical, it's meant to spur the developer to do better.
I'm also experimenting with RPG Makers XP and VX, so watch this space.

Depression Review

Thanks very much!
Yeah, I agree. I feel like I connected with the game because it clicked with my mindset. I lament the fact that not everyone's going to be able to "get it."
Well, that can be said of most of Calunio's work - witness the polarized responses to Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer, for instance. That said, I hope our reviews get a few more people to try it - because, if you look closely enough, its message applies to almost all of us. Even if we haven't experienced depression, most of us could identify with the themes of frustration, loss, regret and searching that pervade the story.

Excellent job, Professor Q! This is beautifully written and deeply thoughtful. I feel like I understand the game even more than I did before.
Thanks - your review was great too. I think you need to have a certain sort of experience to truly "get" this game (mine wasn't depression, though Freud would demur), which explains why it probably struck a chord with both of us.

Depression's got another 4 star review... has the world gone crazy? :O
Well, depression can sometimes co-exist and alternate with mania. =)

Kidding, thanks a lot for this review!
It's funny how your view of this game is so close to my own... if I'd written a review about Depression myself, it would be a lot like this (except you're a better writer).
I'm lucky I have a dark complexion, or I'd be blushing like an anime character right now! Thank you, and I'm glad you liked the review! (I must confess, though, that it was written soon after life threw me a "Surprise" of its own - that probably explains the tone. If I'd written it, say, a week ago when I first played the game, it wouldn't have read quite the same way.)

I'm listening to the songs you mentioned right now. Good matches for the game's atmosphere indeed (though you'd be missing the game's breathtaking OST).
My original title for the review was "I never felt better now". But I have to agree, the soundtrack is excellent (I forgot to mention that in the review, oops!) and the ending theme is heart-wrenching in a good way.
Great work, and congratulations once again. If there were "Best Use of Medium" awards, like the text adventure competitions used to have, Depression would be a major contender.

Ten Tales Review

Agreed, enjoyed playing this game. You should play the horror-esque game Ningyo Heart, which is the first game for mightydarkchocolate's team. I reviewed it.
I was playing it, and on course to finish it, until, um, real life intervened. I'll come back to it soon. What I saw was very good indeed.
Jay's Journey Review
Good review. I actually enjoyed the writing in this game, but I think the author went a little overboard with the switch puzzles. Puzzles are good, but variety is better! The cast of characters was another strong point - each of them had their own quirks and attributes, even if some of them came close to being "stock" characters. I'd agree with your rating (3 - 3.5 out of 5) but in my case it'd be the annoying "team members split up and hit switches until something happens" gameplay that dragged the rating down.

Love and War: Act I Review
Interesting comments on the political and social setting; such a critique honestly hadn't occurred to me before, as I was totally immersed in the game itself. But, yes, 300 years of peace is little short of miraculous, unless the citizens of Terra are humanoid but not exactly human, and hence better able to use their frontal lobes. =)
Pom Gets Wi-Fi Review
While I wouldn't give this game 0.5 out of 5 (that's harsh!), it's certainly not outstanding enough to deserve a 4 or even a 5.
It's a fun little first attempt with some interesting ideas, and a lot of silliness. (And while the pedant in me deplores the writing, the player in me can understand what the author was aiming for.) I happen to enjoy a little silliness every now and then, so I'd rate it a 2.5 or a 3. Not writing a review though, because this seems to be one of those "love it or hate it" games, and putting myself in the middle of the road would make me road kill. =)
