Doink

I actually have a smoother version halfway working, but I didn't have more time to carefully test over and over to make sure it moved to the exact screen positions I needed, so I saved that scripting to a different enemy and went back to the FF5 way for the video.

But in the end, it'll probably be the smooth, FF6 "move while slightly shaking" style. Perhaps I'll leave the FF5 version of the movement for the Tonberry King. =P

Doink

Yeah, just an animation that plays on the user at the same time as the skill animation on the target.

Cat Nip, Gold Saucer, The Echo

author=RydiaMist
As for Minfillia, besides the echo, do her special abilities include other things authentic to her in FF14 such as getting kidnapped, sending you on endless amounts of fetch quests, and sitting around while the rest of the party does all the work? >_>

LOL, if I were making this game to be a satire of the series, I would definitely consider things like that.

Final Fantasy Discovery Boss Battle Test: Jaharan Giant

author=Noel_Kreiss
It's all nice and good, but that font used in name display for dialogue is not a good choice IMO; it's a bit too futuristic and too bold I think. Something more simplistic in design would be better.

Nothing is set in stone, I will most likely end up using VAG Rounded for it, like the other windows.

Fight looks cool though! I like the shield mechanic and crisis mode. It's nice that you announce it like that to allow for more strategy, in my game some bosses will just suddenly go into pissy boss mode when you get their HP low without warning, haha.

It's the first boss battle where such mechanics are used, so I felt obligated to include a bit of a hint/tutorial. In future boss battles using similar gimmicks, the player will be on their own for the most part.

Mini_Cactpot.png

One of them.

Mini_Cactpot.png

In FF14, it's three times per day, which was part of a recent update. Before that, it was once per day.

The chances of gaining money from the Mini-Cactpot are too strong to allow it to be accessed over and over. It's designed to be a gamble, not a method to get rich quick. There is also scripting in place to nullify bypassing the time limits by editing the time on your computer.

This video illustrates how the game functions. It works exactly the same in FFD.

Players can try their luck in the Mini-Cactpot once every eight hours (real time) for a 500 Gil fee.

A very big thank you to Mr. Trivel for working on this script.

Final Fantasy Discovery

I am finalizing something pretty neat at the moment. I'm excited to show it.

Final Fantasy Discovery

Well, for me, I picked up most of what I know, which is admittedly still not significant, by editing scripts that actual people who know what they're doing wrote :D

After staring at code for so long, you'll start to see why they work the way they do, I suppose. There's also lots of references online. For example I was sort of not understanding how things like "each.do" and stuff worked so I googled "ruby syntax each" and read up on it.

Sooz Arts aww yiss
