[Poll] Preferred Browser?

I've heard of Netscape. But I thought it was dead.

[Poll] Preferred Browser?

I kinda have nefarious motives here, you see, I got fed up with Firefox deciding that basically all of its add-ons (some of which I use for popup control or protection from unwanted interference online).

Personally, I think Chrome is a dumbed-down browser system. Same with Brave (which despite having a reputation of being secure, seems to be very uncustomizable). I like about:config coding for small tweaks, and I like the ability to show/hide the IE style menu bar. And I like add-ons, but hate getting screwed over every update. So...
  • Customizability (in particular, I like menu bars)
  • Being able to alter internal stuff as well (I currently have popups blocked unless I click on the link)
  • Anti-tracking
  • STABLE add-ons
  • Secure, even if I'm not
  • Saves my old Firefox bookmarks

Currently, the first one that I've encountered to do this is Waterfox, though supposedly there's also Pale Moon and Basilisk designed this way.

Out of curiosity, what browsers does everyone here use? And can anyone give a recommend of a browser that works for these purposes?

Just started streaming!

I think it's mostly the distortion of the font though. This is what it looks like at my end. (Different game, so color scheme is different)

If it's properly patched with Font Changer, the font is more readable. Otherwise, it kinda... isn't.

And yes, I get complaints about font all the time, but I never realized how bad it looks on other computers, and the whole not being able to prepatch thing.

Oh yeah, I have two custom fonts btw. Second one looks like sorta nosferatu serif, and is very hard to read, so switch that one out probly.

Example:

Just started streaming!

Ah okay, now I found.

For the people watching the stream but unclear what IndieArt was hearing for the opening screen, this is the Opening screen song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8CkSw4hVog

Also, how did you get sound effects but no song? Oh that's why.

(Gonna comment here since I don't have Youtube account no more)

Ambrosia. But Anorogia works too. Pffft, "I'm calling her Ambrosia, I don't know what her name is." I had no idea the text works that bad on other computers. You have to kinda install the fonts, and then if it still doesn't work you use the FontChanger.

And to answer who decided on the color scheme, IndependentArt did. That was the menu with WindowedMode, and Protanopia. Protanopia means you agreed to be colorblind.

"I don't know what he wants to do with the shroom" I started laughing uncontrollably.

Oh my, that may have been a glitch? That was supposed to be the right wish.

"In the name of the universe, I am at your service" is an anime reference. It's from Tokyo Mew Mew (AKA Mew Mew Power)

I think it's "calculus textbooks".

The puzzle is a trick. You either cancel or choose option 3 (forget which). "Or maybe I have to do it as a cow?" Said no one ever.

I actually have four of five games. Alpaca: Escape For The Butcher's Shop and That Damned Redhead are kinda like this. Oracle of Tao and Tales From The Reaper are (more) serious. Then I have The Peach Wasn't Enough which is a retelling of the story of Izanagi and Izanami from Japanese myth.

Darn, you missed the best part of the movie! Blind skating girl was supposed to avoid the flowers but she tripped over them.

Thanks for the Let's Play! You couldn't have done a better job showing off everything about the game if you tried.

The New Earth

Well, it also recently got a review.

Also, link to the stream? You said something about youtube (cuz I obviously missed it somehow).

[RM2K3] Not very much requesting game-making advice

I thought that was for like canceled games and stuff, not technically active games?

[RM2K3] Not very much requesting game-making advice

Forget it. Pepsi is going to finish that game sometime in 2035.

If you're looking for a game to basically learn about stuff with (including many of those plugins), Oracle of Tao has loads and loads of features. The problem is, it also has cruft (you know, code that I made then forgot about, then it creates a nuisance later because something else needs that picture or variable or whatever). But this too is part of the learning process, and unlike SOME PEOPLE who are afraid of releasing their game, I have no qualms about such things.

Yeah, I know, I'm giving Pepsi a hard time. But c'mon man, people like demos.

Btw, if you want an example of what NOT to do, I also have some of those (actually, the last two are pretty simple and fairly clean of glitchy crap, but they're silly games).

REFMAP Arranged/Categorized

This thing?

I'm just gonna homemake 'em. Splice stuff together using a charset box template. There might be similar stuff, but probably not the same mix.

So far, I've gone through five pages, and nobody's made these into charsets.

I got as far as one of them. I loathe the idea of working with partial objects for puzzles and such, so since I know the maximum for a 288 x 256 chipset is 24 x 32, I simply shrunk stuff bigger that that down to size for my Procrustean charset.

Basically, just spliced the wall and statues together. I've seen the signs one before (except no hieroglyphs), and the others were too big. I'm gonna try a second one, and call these "Map Objects." It seems like invariably, the chipset won't have something like a piano or certain signs.

Well, that was fun.

The New Earth Review

To provide a little backstory (that "empty" comment)... The New Earth was originally an RpgMaker 2k3 game that I redid on XP because it seemed to have better graphics. I worked (on and off) for 10 years on the game, but it stunk. Some of that was because the code of XP doesn't work quite like 2k3, and some stuff just failed. See the other reviews.

I got frustrated and killed the game basically, and I'm not sure I know if there's a copy of the XP version in existence. After about 5 years of no game at all, I'm like, "Maybe I could remake the game just on 2k3." I decided against something that sunk 10 years of my life, so I decided to make the game in about 3 weeks or less, and intentionally a little bit horrible. Even three weeks was a bit too long, as I realized how much the whole concept annoyed me, how frustrated I was that I had spent all of this time hoping for a game to be good, and it was awful. So, if it seems like my heart's not in it, it kinda isn't.

I'm gonna fix bugs in one hour, and whatever doesn't get fixed will stay in.

I checked the code for the guy who crashes the game, and there is no discernible reason for it. His code is very simple. I think I must have background code from my patches and plugins that is screwing with stuff in general. One of the plugins does that "skill that does not exist" thing. I've figured out essentially what causes it, it's something like one of the patches creating a glitch where after you get hit (usually in the first few rounds), you have to wait a few seconds before using attacks because it sorta forgets that skill for a second. I could never figure out which patch did it.

I think "insufficient memory to create stream" refers to some kind of memory leak, which could be due to one (or more) patches trying to gobble memory to make pictures or whatever. The other thing it could be, is that with the first one you mentioned, the guard tower, there were like 20 move events happening at once. I stopped that, so it should be good. But the same isn't the case when entering the mountain.

I'm gonna remove some of my patches and see if the game runs better.

The New Earth Review

This was a troll game. And yes, I could fix the infinite fights thing (it was mainly a check against boat docking there). But I probly won't.

"Insufficient memory to create stream." Huh? I have been known to do quirky things with patches, but this is a new one.

Those are "clouds" not snow. The idea is you are walking on solid clouds. Lemme look at some of these glitches.

Okay, some of those teleport bugs are intentional (see troll game above). There should actually be more in that area. Cropped text is not, neither is evil game crash man. Not sure about the border girl, as it sounds like a conditional thing. Lemme check around there for any code that doesn't add up.

The options menu can be escaped by hitting Esc. It's a color-menu. The game starts out color-toned horribly, so it should actually screw with your eyes. You can use the cursor keys to adjust stuff like size and color.
