This will likely be my last solo project to use the RTP
If you do consider making your own assets, I recommend the program Aseprite if you're looking for a pixel art tool. It's $15 but is absolutely incredible and I use it for everything that involves pixels.
Exile's Journey

I'm playing through this right now (about 12 hours in) and so far I'm having a blast! The combat system is really good, and the actual use of elemental equipment is refreshing to see.
I'm just about to take on the Wyrm's Peak sidequest...and I have something I'd like to address. The damaging swamp before Wyrm's Peak? Hurts. A lot. The constantly flashing red screen is enough to give me a headache, and I'm not photosensitive. There was no warning for this either. I would suggest either changing the damage floor mechanic to a small noise, make only the character flash red, or at the very least please put a big warning somewhere nearby to let players know that this area WILL flash red very violently.
Beyond that I have no other major gripes. Can't wait to see where the story goes. Thanks for making such a long, captivating game!
EDIT: Okay so I goofed and forgot to give one of my party members the proper boots, so I see now that the screen doesn't flash red if you do this properly. Regardless...still not a great effect. A warning for if you DON'T properly equip yourself would be nice.
Mucka, thank you for your kind words. I would like to say, though, that there is definitely a warning. There's an elf who stands near the entrance of the swamp that tells you to purchase a pair of Protective Boots and where you can buy them. I'm not sure how I can make it any more clear, because his placement is pretty obvious and he stands out quite a bit.
The mechanic is actually in place to simply get players to go to Glencoe if they haven't, since you're never required to go there for the main story. I also wanted to make sure that players are stocked up on new equipment and items since the swamp and Wyrm's Peak sections are pretty long. It's just a very subtle way to make sure that players are ready for the section. :)

Whether it's justified or not, it's true that many people avoid games which use the RTP resources. Not using RTP can certainly help your games stand out.

I've only noticed now (because of the notices) that this is an mv game. How do you like the engine so far, metal?
I love it! It's amazing not feeling held back at all. I do love RPG Maker 2003, but I don't miss spending days just creating a quest journal for example. Of course, I owe a lot to Yanfly and other plug-in creators.
Before I began work on this game and before I even opened RPG Maker MV for the first time, I created a design document where I wrote down every feature I wanted in this game. To my surprise, there isn't a single feature from that document that I haven't been able to implement. A feature like the characters' sprites changing to match their equipped armor would have involved an unfathomable amount of conditional branches in RM2K3, but I was able to implement that feature by writing a TWO-LINE script in MV.
I will say that mapping took some getting used to. I still absolutely hate the fact that you can't place a tile underneath an already-placed tile. For example, if I place a tree and I want to add a shadow auto-tile underneath it, I can't do so without erasing the tree.

Fun fact: The combined size of every map we've created is actually larger than the surface area of the Earth.
Races
author=Deckiller
Hmm, is the scope of this game across the entire world now? It seems like you're covering a much larger "surface area" based on these races and stuff.
It's still just a single country. I don't want to say which because learning about what's going on will be part of the experience.
The story involves a group of warriors from all over the world (or just one part of the world, if the player wants) being sent to a country that has vanished into the Chaos World. Your party's goal is to reclaim this lost country from its new rulers and bring it back into the Balanced World.
More Planned Changes
That's a good call on the portraits. They actually seemed much younger in my head, although it does make sense that they are 13/14.
