Would learning to draw help me in improving my aspiring pixel art skill?

All drawing improves all fields of drawing. Simple as that. So drawing with pen n paper is useful, sure, but if it's pixel art you want to make more than anything - I'd suggest doing that as much as possible.

For few years, all I did was pixel stuff, but then moved to digital painting and traditional drawing and realized that all that hard work with pixel art also carried over to other fields of art.

Color theories that go with traditional painting are really useful btw.

ChronoTrigger inspired song

I liked it a lot! the waves gave it pretty soothing tone. I would love to use the song somewhere, but unfortunately I'm doing way too dark stuff atm to use anything like that :/

I listened your other stuff too on soundcloud and I really like the quality! I'll keep you in mind, if I ever do more upbeat stuff. :)

haha, yea I guess it's pretty obvious :P Biggest influences for this project are Amnesia, Berserk(manga) and lovecraftian horror in general.

Oh man what an awesome screenshot that top one.. Amazing artist you got there. Love the raw pixels you can see!

@Punkitt, I love the cutscene picture or whatever those are. Really brings your character alive. Your maps seems a bit empty tho....

@Kevincalator, looks interesting, what engine is this?

Here's a new screenshot, contains slight pixel nudity:

hanging out with my ghoul pal. I'm starting full time with this project now. Looking for at least 2 months of free time to commit into this.

What games would be on SNES Mini?

author=LockeZ
Lemmings, like FF6, is on every system known to mankind. But unlike FF6, the SNES wasn't its debut system; it was the fifth system it was ported to. It's like including Pac-Man.

Aren't DKC and DKC2 pretty much the exact same game? I can understand not being able to pick one, I guess, but just flip a coin.

I like the rest of your list even though I'm not sure how Lion King made it on there instead of Aladdin.
True, Lemmings belongs to PC anyway. So maybe switch that with Aladdin. Lion King made there under my own personal preferences :P

As for DKC2, NES mini also had few sequels. but maybe those were a bit more justified on second inspection...

I'm surprised how many of you put Killer Instinct instead of Mortal Kombat on your lists. I feel MK is way more iconic SNES game (back then). Shinan, good call on Super Tennis and Lost Vikings!

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I got Skyrim Remaster for ps4. I've never owned the game before, I've only previously played it at my brother's xbox360 for few hours. Just messed around aimlessly back then. Now I'm happy to be immersed into Tamriel. It's always really relaxing playing TES games and I feel like this is exactly what I needed in my life atm.

Made a Khajit for the first time ever. "Jasmus" is a trickster tiger. Coming from the foreign lands of Elsweyr, Jasmus doesn't feel connection to local disputes. Thus he is out to create confusion between different factions - Skyrim is a playground to him of sorts... Jasmus also has a problem with alcohol, whenever he seems a bottle, he has to have it. Stealing, mugging, whatever it takes. Alcohol of course works as a tool to distance himself from the feelings of loneliness and general disconnection to surrounding world.

What games would be on SNES Mini?

Final Fantasy III
Kirby Superstar
Megaman X
Secret of Mana
Super Bomberman
Star Fox
Super Mario Kart
Super Punch-Out!!
Turtles in Time

Earthworm Jim
Super Castlevania IV
Bust-a-Move
Contra III: The Alien Wars

I'd pay fortunes for this system tbh.

@Blindmind, I love the concept of your forest/cavern hybrid! Also the mood is already well established. There are some tiling problems I think or the map just generally looks a bit diffucult to comprehend. Maybe it's better when you're actually playing the map. Still awesome work!

@Erilex, That looks so awesome! caught my attention for sure :O

Screenshot Survival 20XX

@Marian, I like that your mapping actually makes sense. The lava stuff is apparently warming up this area, so it's all green while rest of the map is snowy. Simple map, but I like it :)

@Dookie, needless to say it look awesome. For some reason I'm getting huge Robocod: James Pond-vibes from that :'D I really have no idea where this is coming from.

Another progress shot,

now on MV:

Graphics are still very much WIP, altho I have been concentrating more on the actual game making lately. I'm happy that the system of hacking body parts off is now fully working. yay : )

(might be a little hard to see from the screenshot, but the playable character is missing both of his arms at this point)
