What are you thinking about? (game development edition)
djbeardo, have you been there before? I'd like to think that creative scenes are usually pretty supportive and encouraging towards each other. So give it a try! Sounds like a cool event.
So lately I've been pretty inactive with RPG maker.. I have this dark sadistic dungeon crawler in the making, but I was thinking of maybe starting another project with a silly and light-hearted feel. You know, to balance each other out. The problem I have at the moment, that's slowing me down, is that my working laptop is an Apple product and I have to switch to my old PC every time I want to actually do some game making. Pretty troublesome.

grindalf, your game reminds me of old net yaroze PS1 games. Dunno if you're aware of what those are, but there used to be these amateur games in old Playstation magazine demo discs that often looked something like that. I personally love retro PS1 era 3D graphics, so thumbs up from me!
Luchino, your graphics look so beautiful! Really vibrant colors, but I agree with the stiffness of characters. It's really tricky to make tall charsets from zero. I recommend that you just look up how they made those in some commercial games and copy a little bit where necessary. arms and shoulderarea look off.

2012 didn't sound too long ago, but when I gave it a little thought I realized it's like 4 years ago already! wtf!? Time goes by too fast man.
Do you wish you could go back to 2012 with the knowledge you got know? Would you do things differently?

punkitt, a new project for every page of this topic huh? :D Your GameBoy stuff looked real charming. nice coincidence, I just found my old GB Pocket and few games for it yesterday. GB palette gives me a nice fuzzy feeling. The super mario game looks cool too. Sorta like the haunted house levels, except outdoors? I also second that it looks like straight outta SMW.
frogge, I'm getting heavy SMB2 vibes from your screenie. Might be because of the desert/sand theme and waterfalls. there are some minor problems with the diagonal walls, but other than that it looks great. I'm liking the turtledude.

Punkitt, Haha, well i'm talking about the character on right. His arm divides the body so that it looks like he got a bare Donald's duck bottom. He got thin legs like bird creatures do and the hat looks like Donald's sailor cap :D

I'm thinking of Dark Souls-esque text "O brave one, thou has given up all hope..." Or somthing. Lately I've actually just been drawing promo pics, game over screens and characters portraits instead of, you know, making the actual game -_-
If any of you guys like this style of painting, i'm open to making art for your games too. as long as it's not gonna be ridiculous amount of work. (:

Gredge, like others have said; the grass looks too random. Otherwise it's cool. Although I'm probably never going to get over the squareness of the VX tilesets...
