SBESTER'S PROFILE

I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

Currently working on
-Crime Opera Trilogy (Mafiosi 1, 2, & 3 edited, with all original resources)
-It's a secret...
Crime Opera II: The Floo...
The kids have grown up, and they're becoming quite dangerous.

Dragon Kingdoms: Birth of a Legend

Doesn't matter. It's different, therefore I love it.

Where to even begin with RPG Maker

I recommend rm2k or rm2k3. They're easy to use, and quite flexible. At least give them a try for your first creation. I couldn't imagine making anything even decent in RMXP for my first try. The interface is just kinda... I guess catered towards those with extensive backgrounds in using previous versions. I remember using it for the first time and thinking, if I had not used rm2k or rm2k3 I would have had no clue what the hell I was doing.

A lot of people go with the newer tools just because of graphics. But I'll tell you why rm2k and rm2k3 are the best in this way, the sheer amount of resources available on the internet. There are just a hell of a lot more for the older makers because they have been around so long and built up a large collection over time. And like many others, I find VX to be pretty blocky.

I've been fiddling with rm2k for over 10 years, and I still love it now. If you see potential to sell your game, obviously one of the newer tools is the only way you can do it. But if it's just for fun, there are a lot of people (who haven't been voicing their opinions on here yet) who prefer these older tools to the new ones.

And in terms of game recommendations, THE WAY episodes 1-6 by Lun are great examples of what can be achieved in rm2k3 (even though I was never all that partial to the custom battle system that was used).

My Happy Day!

Me luv it long time 2!

Pokémon Hunter

This game was too hard for me to finish, but ya gotta respect a full and complete game nonetheless.

Go, edchuy, go!

What do people care about?

Sorry, AznChipmunk, I thought it was a contest!

Am I really the first to say this looks amazing?
I'll say it twice then!

Oh now i see what you mean lol. Yeah I'll have to fix that, but Rush Whirl 1 gives a good description. I suppose my assumption that all who will choose this (sequel) skill will have used the first one as well is a little too presumptuous.

Rush Whirl is one of the few attacks you get that affects all enemies.
While I can't give big descriptions during gameplay, the strategy guide will go in depth with all the stats of each skill set, posing their strengths and weaknesses against one another. It will also be released with the full version of the game. I just need to finalize damage stats and energy costs with my tester, who's been a great help in that area.

2 versions of the game

Thanks!
Mapping has always been a problem for me. I'm very lazy and impatient lol. I'm hoping I can turn that around a bit before the final version. If it still sucks.... I can only try to do better the next time :P
