BACKWARDS_COWBOY'S PROFILE
Gaming and game design are my hobbies. I've spent the most time with VX Ace and 2k3 (prior to Steam release), but the only thing I've ever finished anything with is 2k.
Psychology was my first degree, but being responsible for depressed kids was too stressful. So I got a Masters in Healthcare Management and now I'm responsible for depressed adults!

Mario 3D World camera problems
Part of the reason I like it is because I enjoyed Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, and after three or four nearly-identical iterations of "New" Super Mario Bros. (3DS, Wii, WiiU, Luigi Edition, and maybe there was a DS one?) it was a welcome change. Granted, I never played either of the Super Mario Galaxies, but still.
Microsoft screws Xbox players out of money
Any company that doesn't let you just pay with a credit card/PayPal isn't a company worth buying things from. I know Sony and Nintendo let you pay the exact value in their stores, which is actually a key reason I never bought a Microsoft console or used any of their services aside from registering Steam games like GTA IV.
Regarding the OP, I took contract law during my Sophomore year of college and can most definitely say that what Microsoft is doing is 100% legal. Generally, a company only needs to inform you of the end- or change- of a service 30-90 days before it shuts down, changes, or wipes itself out entirely, with the exact amount of time varying depending on the type of service. When you purchased the currency, there was likely a bit about it being non-refundable the moment you bought it (unless it was proven to be purchased with a stolen credit card), and as you mentioned you have received a couple emails about it. While it might not seem fair, it's completely legal to do, especially since their services are optional.

Cringe Moments In RPGs
Persona Q is a full game of cringe. The characters are reduced to bobble heads whose only personality trait is a single aspect of their character in the actual games, but intensified to the extreme. Akihiko is obsessed with punching things and eating protein. You found a chest? Cue voice acting: "I hope there's protein in it!"
The game is still rated M for Mature.
"The Persona series makes it's first appearance on a Nintendo system!" Aaaand it's a cheesy spinoff crossover with Etrian Odyssey.
Don't get me wrong, it's an okay game, but the character personalities ruin it.

Computer issues?
What kind of computer do you have? I had an issue with my Dell where some of the Dell processes that run in the background decided to one day begin consuming all available processor power and caused it to overheat and the computer to turn off. Long story short, opened up Services and set them all to Manual instead of Automatic. No more overheating issues.
Galaxy Note 7 drama?
In other news, Samsung washing machines are hurting people now and being recalled.
I don't trust the way my Samsung tv is looking at me.

New 4k TV
I'm still trying to find a way to get my PS2 and PSTV to look half-decent on a 32-inch 1080p display. 4K would just complicate things.
Also, don't forget that every upgrade to visual display technology means media corporations have to hire actors and anchors five years younger when people start complaining about the wrinkles and crow's feet.

Duel mechanics / Single character RPGs
Square Enix had Bloodmasque on iOS, where the player could attack and dodge while enemies would attack or guard. It was all about timing your attacks so that you could hit an enemy with a combo before they blocked and reduced damage and without leaving yourself open to their attacks. It worked well to some extent; later bosses and stronger mission targets would frequently be either unable to flinch or so fast that you could not reliably pull off a combo or dodge.
Unfortunately, the game was an always-online affair where even playing single player required an internet connection. The whole thing felt like a spin-off of Vampire The Masquerade, which was appealing at first but then makes you wish the Masquerade series had been adapted into video games more professionally.

Nintendo Switch; Yes, that's the name

(Plus I bought the WiiU when it was brand new and learned my lesson: Never buy consoles on release day.)
Yeah, they got me too with that one. I wasn't a release day buyer, but I bought in to it once the 32GB model came out. There were a few good games, but I still can't justify it compared to the PS2 or Gamecube.
I can't say I'm really impressed with the switch. I see an iPad with controller attachments and a dedicated graphics component for gaming. Ports of games that ran on the PS3 and 360? Not interested. New Mario Kart and what might have been a Super Mario Sunshine/Mario 64 sequel? Interesting, but doesn't justify buying another $350 dollar system. The cartridge/card based format also turns me off, since any Wii/U games I have won't carry over unlike the Gamecube to Wii or Wii to WiiU compatibility.
I understand that it's more of a successor to the 3DS/XL, but ditching their console owners to focus mainly on portable seems a little wrong. I'm concerned that this is going to pull a VitaTV/PSTV and burn bright but fade fast. I'll probably sit this one out unless I can find enough games I want that are equal to or greater in cost than the system itself to justify the purchase. And games available on PC or other systems aren't counting towards that total.
The Summer Video game challenge!
I'll join in on this.
1. SMT: Nocturne
2. Xenosaga Ep. I (I'm so close)
3. Etrian Odyssey IV
4. Cities: Skylines (I'm going with "Achieve Population of 100k" as "beating" the game)
5. Pokemon Yellow
