Revenant Gods - Ragnarok Chronicle

This looks amazing. I'm incredibly impressed! It almost doesn't seem real that this is built in XP!

Help with tiles

You may not want to hear this, but this sounds like you need to parallax map to make this work. I had a very similar issue with trying to find a pirate ship.
This isn't to say that all of your maps need to be parallaxed - just the screen with the "World Tree" (or whatever it's called in your world).
There are a number of parallax tutorials on this here website and others, so I won't go into it here. I think if you find a good stock photo of a tree, you could run few filters in Photoshop it get it pixelated/cell shaded. Or maybe upscaling an existing sprite tree should work. I think I've seen "large tree" sprites before for just this issue - but they are usually in parallax mapping discussions.
I have to admit though, the scale of your tree sounds a little off... 5 miles wide (26400 feet) by 5000 feet tall? That sounds less like a tree and more like a dish.
Other unsolicited feedback: Parallax mapping adds a bit of sheen to your game and really makes it stand out against other games (if done well). If you're submitting it steam and/or going commercial, that extra bit of polish will tell potential buyers that you actually spent some time on the graphics.

EDIT: Found a tree for you. You may be able to find better by googledorking... But here's a start.

[RMVX ACE] Khas Lighting Effects - Tints?

I'm working with Khas Lighting Effects and, while I can get the lanterns and such to work, I can't seem to get any of the tint settings to work. This seems like an elementary issue... I can get the screen to darken with no problem (and the frame settings work, so it can darken in 60 frames), but none of the RGB settings work. What am I doing wrong?

I found this forum that talks about putting a setting to "false" - which I did. But it's still not working.

And I thought that maybe it was some script incompatibility - but I made a blank demo and it still isn't working. You can check out the demo here: Click!

Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: Well, it looks like I have again stumped the Help Boards here at RMN. So, for anyone else who has come across this problem, here's what I ended up doing:

I dumped Khas light effects! While I really liked it, and used it on previous projects, it just wasn't working out for this one. I didn't need really dark, spooky hallways. And KLE is so much more interesting when one is using the wall shadow settings - which I wasn't using. So I found that I could achieve the same effect by eventing my lighting. Which freed me up to do tinting using the built-in tinter. I have since found that the tinting built into KLE never worked anyway and this is slightly known. It was for the best, as KLE also introduced a LOT of lag into my larger maps; my evented candles/sconces/torches are much easier to deal with.

[RMVX ACE] i've had alot of problems with lighting

If I understand your problem right, you may need to set the setting to "add" - otherwise it just plops down the whole non-transparent picture.

[RMVX ACE] Overlay Maps and Woratana's Fogs - not working

I'm having trouble getting Tsukihime's Overlay Map script to work well with Woratana's Fog script. I can get them both to work, but the fog doesn't show up on top of the overlay map - so the overlay map has no fog on it.
I made a little demo to illustrate it:

Has anyone gotten these things to work together? I've made a number of overlay maps that form tops of walls and large buildings, so no fogs on them looks dippy. I'm stuck with either no fogs (meh, not ideal) or redesign my maps.

I wouldn't mind redesigning the maps, except my tall sprite cut through tops of tiles.

Edit: Seems I stumped everyone? Well, in case anyone else has this problem... I ended up dumping Hime's Overlay Maps. It's a cool script, but I found that just doing some limited parallax mapping and getting a "fix parallax" script worked just as well, even if organizing the switches for the overlay graphics was more complex. But at least the fancy fogs are working, as is my smooth camera script. On the whole, an improvement. It helped with lag, too!

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

I just realized that a bunch of the decorative events I put in my towns were accidentally set as "parallel process" through an egregious cut/paste error! So I'm now going back through my maps (like 100+ grr!) and fixing them all.

Also, experimenting with some anti-lag scripts. Yami's seems to work the best. Theo's was giving me an error and doesn't seem to like the "map overlay" script I'm using.

Dynastia

Wow, where did you find the character art? It's lovely!

I remember thinking, for the longest time, that she only had the one eye. However... yeah.

I had the same reaction! I thought it was just me!
Maybe if there's a way to shorten the bang on the right side? Or accentuate the angle of the face with the nose?

[RMVX ACE] How do I create face/sprite sets that don't suck.

Here's one not in Japanese: click

But, similarly to the other one, people are facing to the front...
For my games, I just grab all the existing art assets out there that I can find.

[RMVX ACE] How do I create face/sprite sets that don't suck.

I'd have to agree mostly with pianotm. Unless you can draw, it's hard to get good character sets. There are a few other options:
1) If you can't draw, embrace your bad drawing skills and make a game where the art direction as a whole is kinda bad. In many ways, bad art only sticks out because it's not consistent with "better" art elsewhere. If everything is a little janky, then at least everything is consistent! This option probably works better for joke games or funny games, though. Crappy art would probably draw away from epic adventures or horror games.
2) Scour the internet for character sets. Check this board or other boards for art assets and grab them. Of course, you'll want to credit the creators in your game. However, if you're selling your game, some of these assets won't work.
3) Try to find some avatar generators online. I like this one, but it's very anime. Just photoshop out the backgrounds. Maybe that fits the style of your game, maybe not. Just google "avatar creator" and there are a few.
