PROFESSOR_Q'S PROFILE

I've been a fan and follower of RPG Maker games of all sorts since 2012. My all-time favourite has to be "Love and War: Act I", closely followed by "The Way" and "Romancing Walker". (Yes, I'm weird that way!)

I'm not particularly good at game design, though I can write plot-lines reasonably well. While waiting for the rest of Love and War to come out, I've also written three full-length stories set in the Love and War universe, which you can read over at the Love and War forums. (I go by Professor Q over there, surprise, surprise!)

I also enjoy reviewing games, though I tend to write about games I enjoyed playing. If a review of mine sounds critical, it's meant to spur the developer to do better.

I'm also experimenting with RPG Makers XP and VX, so watch this space.

The Demo is Complete! :D

Just downloaded this and am having a blast so far! Great work, Unity! ^_^

Lisa "The First" Review

Okay, I might just do that. After all, first games can always be awkward... ^_^

Sorry this is taking so long to complete

Hey, no problems. Take your time! =)

Toraware no Shoujo - Caged Girl Review

Good review. I think this nails the game's strengths and weaknesses quite well. The authors might be well served by taking this to heart and trying out a similar survival-horror game in a different, more innocuous setting.

Game Progress and a Question

I think the best option at this point is, when Chapter 1 is finished, I ask for Beta Testers to try it out, and ask them afterwards if they think it's a good place for a demo, letting them know that Chapter 2 has even more Weird-Unfortunate-ness in it, and if they still think it's good enough for a demo, I'll release it then.

That sounds like an excellent idea! ^_^

(And yes, I was referring to The Third World; The Year of the Cat is on hiatus....meow!)

Loads and loads of....characters?

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I'll be sure to develop them nicely before unleashing them on you, and work hard to avoid the KorCHA syndrome! =)

Game Progress and a Question

This is pretty cool, considering that I'm more or less in the same place (though I doubt my game and yours should be mentioned in the same breath!)

As for the demo, that depends on the length of each chapter, but I'd say finish at least two chapters before putting something out. A prologue / first chapter is a hook, but a demo should be something more substantial. (Besides, it's the part after the first chapter that's often the trickiest to get through! ^_^)

All the best, and looking forward to another awesome game. =)

Should I, or should I not change the story? I been getting ideas that don't fit

I agree with Unity - retooling the plot in a major way may not work well if you're already quite far along. However, a few new ideas here and there (say, for sidequests, bonus material or an optional character) are fine. If your new ideas are too radically different, you might be better off saving them for your next game. =)

Luxaren Allure Review

I think this may be an issue that goes beyond even the "yuri" label. The word "lesbian" itself unfortunately has exploitation connotations in many people's minds, and makes them automatically think of "adult" or pornographic content. (Not that there's anything wrong with enjoying that sort of thing, it just becomes problematic when trying to talk about media that isn't that).

Hmm, perhaps it's because I have only a passing familiarity with this stuff (or have watched too much Rose of Versailles - ah, those were the days!), but to me yuri always had a connotation of same-sex romance rather than sheer "exploitative" or "PWP" content. In the end, your game told a love story that could resonate with any player / reader regardless of their personal prejudices or orientations (or at least, it worked that way for me), and that was an important part of its success. Kudos again! ^_^

;_; THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR VOTING FOR LUXAREN ALLURE!

Emmych, I now feel like writing fan-fic for your fan-fic....that is an awesome use of Ayla! ^_^

And Unity: glad you liked it, I was wondering if I had gone a bit overboard. ;-)
