DARKDESIGNGAMES'S PROFILE

Dark Design games is a UK based video game design and developer (Jake Jackson) that aspires young minds and alike from entry-level video game design, as basic as 2D right through to high-end and consumer level 3D game design.

We work on games per request and we also make visits to schools, colleges and institutions across the country to help teach all aspects of game design to those intrested, using packages such as Alice, Granny, GameStudio, FPS Creator, AGS and RPG Maker VX.

One of our most popular and successful projects to date is Mystic Quest Remastered, a re-imagined and completely re-developed edition of the 1992 SQUARE release, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy

It's ok, fixed it now. Seems Microsoft bundles a rubbish version of the same font RPG Maker uses, and I replaced it with the official 2k fonts into my windows font folder. Now looks brilliant :P

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy

Just tried the patch but it didn't appear to do anything when I clicked Apply! :(

UPRC, I advise you to post that link in the introductory so one wouldn't need to browse 60+ "Posts" pages.

That would help tremedously for others who had the same problem ;p

Going to try the fix now, thanks alot!

This probably isn't a good investment of your time. It is purely a timesink, with little opportunity for creative expression or growth.
While I agree that remaking games isn't really going to do much for creative expression, I have to disagree on the idea that the developer doesn't grow or learn from it. IMHO DDG's remake of Mystic Quest was amazing and showed a tantalising glimpse into how to modernise a classic game without stripping away the essence of it. This one, being far more complex in practically every single way, is a test of programming, mapping and scripting experience and growth of the developer.

So while it's easier and, you could argue, less creative by remaking an existing game - it's also a test of skill and desire as you have a so much more to live up to.

XD As always, thanks sabin for the heads up!

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy

Been wanting to play this for a while but the font is completely unreadable on my system. Any ways of fixing this?

BTW that problem aside, this game is amazing. :)

EDIT: HOLY COW that's a big world...*cancels all plans for the day*

Nice idea, though I bear a friendly warning: Square Enix can be a group of pretty deadly copyright Nazgul when they feel like it, so be very careful with this project if you don't want them to blow it sky high.
Quite aware of that; there's absolutely no revenue coming off of this game, and all copyrights are retained in this remake. Plus there are many other fan games of Final Fantasy that have been on here years. Naturally, if Square-Enix did approach me to take the project down, I would with just cause. All resources of Square-Enix's used in this game cannot be further redistrubuted, they are all heavily protected with encryption so they go no further.

Plus I don't see this game being much of a threat to the originals, it's no where near to the quality of them and probably never will be. It is a fan remake, after all.

Square-Enix, if you are reading, just remember that I love you and have bought ALL of your games.

Demo Length

I'll be submitting a demo soon. My demo will feature 3 dungeons, the first part of the story and around 90 mins of gameplay, much longer than the average demo game.

I think if you can hook a player enough with your demo, you have a winner on your hands, doesn't matter on the length of it, the quality, not the quantity, always sells.

XD bit late to say that, nearly half of the game is complete already!

Public Demo Feedback

That's because people on RMN have a complex about their precious blogs being "pushed down" off the front page. It's absurd.

I didn't even know the blogs were put on the front page until earlier. Not that I even care, I'm not making this game for publicity. -_-

Public Demo Feedback

Great. So instead of looking at this blog for real feedback it's going to be used for trolling. Now probably will have to scroll to page 2 to even see feedback when it arrives. -_-
