I love weapon upgrade systems as long as weapons aren't permanently missable. These systems add depth to battles and resource management, and they distinguish your game.
By the way: Will your game feature an optional (automatic or press button) wait function with regard to the battle system?
The way it is now, it's possible to get many weapons early by finding them hidden in dungeons, but almost every weapon is eventually available in shops with the exception of a few that are rewards for completing side quests.
To answer your second question, yes it will!

I love the atmosphere in that one, BadLuck, and I imagine the portrait will look great when colored! They'd better be careful they don't slip, though.
I have a few to share today:
Atop a large tower called the Shrine of Mad Laughter. Fans of the Tower of Latria from Demons Souls are going to love this particular dungeon!
And here's the corner portion of a map I created for a lake called Loch Anam:
My game is nearing completion and will certainly be done in 2017. I've reached the home stretch! I've been working on it for a long time and it's going to be over fifteen hours long, so check out its page if you haven't! :)

Adding a Codex/Encyclopedia: A good idea?
Always a good idea. I plan on adding one to my game, as well. Sometimes players are given way too much lore and forget most of it, so this is a great remedy.

This is wonderful! My only suggestion is to try and fill in some of the empty space. Maybe add some cracked floor tiles and whatnot for variety. Are these graphics are custom-made?

I prefer C, Pizza. It seems the easiest to read. And your spritework is absolutely stunning as always, Luchino! :-) Nobody on this website ever fails to impress me (and make me feel so unskilled in comparison!)
I've gotten a lot of work done recently, which means I have no screenshots to show off:

I appreciate any feedback. Also, I'd like some opinion on the cloud overlay: do you guys prefer them to have a slightly greenish tint, as in the first screenshot, or to have the reddish tint as seen in the last two screenshots? I can't decide. I'm going for a spooky and somber vibe to this map. One of the most important aspects to all of my maps is its atmosphere.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
So last night, I wrote a script for a long cutscene in Notepad. Immediately after, I typed up the dialogue into message boxes in RPG Maker 2003 and called it a day without yet adding in character movement or anything. I was really proud of the dialogue I wrote and I consider it some of the best in the game thus far.
Apparently, I didn't save my work properly because the auto-start event is blank. I also didn't save the notepad file because I had already retyped it into RPG Maker. I'm really mad. I have to rewrite all of that dialogue. I'm normally really good with saving my work and I do remember hitting "apply" a bunch in the event, but I guess I somehow closed the program without saving.
Obviously there's nothing any of you guys can do about this. I'm just venting. Well, time to get to work.
EDIT: Turns out I didn't lose all of that dialogue! I found this out because I tried to test the map and the auto-start event began to run. I just have no idea where I placed the event! I can't find it! (It's a huge map). So I learned two valuable lessons:
Save your work constantly and be very careful!
and
Put your auto-start events in easy-to-find places!

author=Ratty524author=FroggeYou know Ara Fell uses Rudra's, right?
Wait it's NOT Ara Fell? Chrono Trigger maybe?
Ara Fell uses REFMAP resources, which were made from a group of people in Japan for free use and aren't from a commercial game. I think that Xenomic meant that his church was inspired by Chrono Trigger's mapping.
Also, I'd just to clarify that I didn't mean you should try to create a very large map like mine like ESBY thought, just that you should vary your cliffs more.
ESBY: That looks amazing man. Are those your tilesets?

InfectionFiles: Thanks for your support! More screenshots are on their way.
Blueperiod: Before I even saw what you wrote, I was going to comment that those screenshots look a bit creepy. You're definitely doing a great job creating a spooky, disturbing atmosphere.
DBAce: That's a really creative use of the battle system!
Kaempfer: Your critiques have been noted. I've changed the torch flames to orange as an attempt to add more colour. I'll look into toning down the tint, but it does make some sense in game: in most dungeons, your goal is to close a portal to Hell/the otherworld, and the screen gradually gets a bit more red as you approach the portals.
Xenomic: That's a great start, but the walls look a bit square. Try not to have such long wall sections that are completely straight. This map I made will help illustrate my point a little better:

I try not to have a wall/cliff go on for more than two tiles without twisting or turning. It looks more natural that way. I really hope you understand what I mean; I know that I'm probably explaining it really badly. Otherwise, looking good. I like the bones that you have scattered throughout, and the dungeon's gimmick is really interesting.
Grindalf: That looks really cool. It reminds me of an old school Dragon Quest or RM2K game gone 3D.

That looks brilliant, Esby! I don't have much to say beyond that. The sprite and tileset look great!
It's been a while since I posted screenshots, so here we go!

Ice cavern! And yes, there will be slippery ice puzzles. As well, since I believe that every dungeon should have at least two distinct types of areas, there is also an Palace of Ice located deep inside the cavern.
Here's a screenshot of the dungeon's first floor in the maker, for those interested:

These screenshots are for my game Exile's Journey. Check out it's page if you're intrigued. :-)
