IROG'S PROFILE

Hi all !

I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.

I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip

I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !

See you around,
Irog

Very impressive work Faye!

Side note: The moon is a sphere that blocks light coming from distant stars. So an observer on Earth won't see any star in the red region of the image below.

Your Game Dev Identity/Signature

The greatest advantage of hobby game dev is that you can make the game you want. You don't have to build a commercial product to please the largest audience and make your game profitable. Feel free to experiment!

I'm probably an unusual dev among RMN devs because I like to code game directly from a programming language (C) and build new engine for each of my projects. MinST is a turn based strategy game on hexagonal grid. Pong10H is an homage to the classic Pong, coded in 10 hours. Red Balloon of Happiness is a light horror exploration game. Wizard apprentice Lya is a top-donw shooter with terrain alterations.

I'm surprised that I'm surprised that there is so much borderline/actual porn clogging up itch.io's top sellers.

so if anyone who knows happens to see this status, what xactly happened to Yanfly? PM me if you'd be so kind.

What happen to Yanfly is just revolting. People taking his work, claim it's their own and sell it! Their selfish act of theft hurt Yan a lot and also the whole community. I don't know how I would react if my code gets stolen like this.

Thanks you Yan for the many scripts you shared. They help everyone to build the great RM games I enjoy playing. Fellow coder & dev, I wish you the best in your new projects!

I'd just be grateful to see the game played, hear a player's live thoughts and reactions. Treat it almost as a usability test.

When, where, how, and even if they decide to stream it is up to them. They're doing me a favour, I don't get to dictate terms. We're not owed an audience.

I think some of us need to be careful. Telling someone to organise their stream around your schedule feels a bit entitled to me. Besides, even if you miss the stream, there's an archive you can watch back at any time.

I think exactly the same. As long as there is a recorded video to watch later, I'll be happy watching you play.

Liberty, that "I can pop myself" while playing Red Balloon of Happiness was priceless !

Thanks El_WaKa!

I'm glad you enjoyed the demo. Yes, the fast pink spell is a lot fun to use and both the attract and repel spells make enemy projectiles fly in all directions (damaging anyone including the shooter).

There is no difficulty setting ("I want to learn magic" starts a new game. "I know some spells" loads a saved game but isn't available yet so it starts a new game. "Elemental control" lets you configure your control keys. "I want to be a warrior" quits the game as you don't want to play with magic). Are these text lines confusing? Should I change them?

The current movement system has a major flaw that reduces Lya's speed to 0 as soon as she touches any obstacle. This severely reduces your ability to doge, probably leading to excessive difficulty.

"Shoot at the cursor location" is something I need for puzzles and to give the ability to freeze precise water tiles to build bridges (or destroy them with fire). The current demo lacks a tutorial to explain that feature and to show that the best way to hit an enemy is to shoot behind it. You had to learn this the hard way while facing any enemies. Do you think you (and other players) could get use to this feature if a tutorial explains that you should shoot behind the enemy?

Release the Dead

Will we receive all the badges we meet the requirements like <showcase progress> + <release demo> ?

Release the Dead

My demo is up. The movement system isn't as good as I wanted: Lya's momentum turn to 0 each time she hits an obstacle. The demo is very short. At the end you receive all the spells under development. This includes all 4 spells described on the game page plus 2 extras: one that repels and one that attracts projectiles (handy to hit enemies with their own projectiles).
