Pokemon just revealed the SV DLC OST and it consists entirely of stolen fan-music from YouTube. How is this legal? And the musitians can't even fight it in court because they're poor hobbyists fighting a billion dollar corporation.

Yeah, sorry about this. I gave somewhat incorrect information because I jumped to conclusions during a manic episode. Sorry. And FYI statuses do have a character limit.

The gaming world was rocked today when a group of hackers revealed that the popular RPG Maker game series was actually vulnerable to security breaches. According to the hackers, the game's developers had failed to adequately protect the game's code, allowing them to easily decrypt the game's content. What's more, the hackers revealed that the game was actually using ripped assets from other popular games, including popular titles such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The news has sent shock waves throughout the gaming community, with many players now questioning the security of the RPG Maker series. Developers are now racing to patch the security flaws, but some gamers are already calling for a boycott of the series until the security issues are addressed.

IT'S OVER.

Not sure if this is a joke or not. (I think it is) But I don't think this is the case. At most RPG Maker MV has a bunch of sound-alikes in it's OST (from KH2, Bravely Second, Chrono Trigger, FF1, DQ1, Ace Attorney, Persona 4, Bayonetta, McLeod, etc) but that's about it. Not legit full-on rips in the RTP of any of the engines.

What weapon should drop from Satan?

What weapon should drop from Satan?

Great ideas everyone! I picked Muramursame because I don't have many strong katana in my game yet. Thanks for the feedback!

What weapon should drop from Satan?

Yes, you heard me right. In my game I have a mechanic called the "nightmare hour" where at 12:00 AM every night (my game has a day/night cycle) there is a 1/5 chance that something called the nightmare hour will occur. At this time time pauses, the screen turns black and white, mist covers the area, and an incredibly powerful "nightmare boss" spawns somewhere on the map. Your goal then is to reach the exit before the nightmare boss sees and attacks you. During this event chests containing rare items spawn as well as scouts that if they see you will call the nightmare boss to start chasing you. That's when you need to get out of there. However, if you do end up being caught by the nightmare boss, get ready for the fight of your life as these special bosses are no joke! Nightmare bosses are divided into three groups, Nightmares, Archfiends, and Oni, with each one having a special dropped weapon/armor that are some of the best gear in the game. There are 6 nightmares, 7 archfiends, and 3 Oni. Here are them listed:

Oni
-Crimros the Red: Vulcan Hammer (Axe)
-Azravos the Blue: Aymr (Axe)
-Ebonzos the Black: Nightmare Bat (Axe)

Nightmares
-Motormouth: Motorized Fists (Fist)
-King Kill: Hellwing (Bow)
-Angler Eye: Chain Gillotine (Dagger)
-Tinker Toy: Clockwork Armor (Heavy Armor)
-Booboo Bear: Blood Claws (Fist)
-Demon Wall: The Crusher (Axe)

Archfiends
-Belphegor: Lazy Shell (Heavy Armor)
-Mammon: Gilded Staff (Staff)
-Asherah: Venus Pole (Staff)
-Beelzebub: Pest Crop (Spear)
-Asmodeus: Lordly Robes (Magick Armor)
-Matsema: Armageddon (Bow)
-Helel: ???

I have the drops for every other boss, but not for Helel, who FYI is basically the biblical satan 1 for 1. So, do you guys have any ideas for what the lord of darkness, satan, would drop? Weapons or armor ideas? I don't want to do something generic like "Hell Bident." I want something more powerful sounding than that. Their drops are supposed to be legendary gear after all. Any ideas? And yes, I know you guys are going to say that this is a lot of bosses and to cut down on things, but I'm trying to make the most ambitious RTP game ever gameplay and story wise. Go big or go home. Last time I made way to many full-on story segments and areas. This is just a few extra bosses with simplistic mechanics, a lot easier to design than something like the planned Golden and Demon routes of Meteo Chronicles or the whole Outrealm Isles optional area.

Favorite version of RPG Maker?

MV, by far. Best RTP, best character generator, and without all the bull of the newer and fancier MZ. I'm probably going to switch over to unity/RM unite in the near future, but for now I'm sticking with MV.

Edit: Well, this post aged poorly. RIP unity. Guess I'm sticking with MV for a bit longer then.

I could be wrong here, but I think most people are willing to forgive overused resources for a free RPG Maker game. If you have the same free music as 101 other games but you have a unique story to tell or unique gameplay, most people won't care. Yeah, a lot of crap games used the same resources, but if yours has the effort put in, most people will re-contextualize that resource with a decent game as opposed to the atrocities out there. And the ones that don't probably aren't your target audience anyway, since they'll judge EVERYTHING about your game, not just the resources, so ignore them. Now, if your game is commercial, different story. Pay for resources in that case. It's the right and ethical thing to do. And if you can't afford to, don't go commercial. Period. You can't afford to. But if it's a free game, don't worry about what other people are using. Find something free and rewrite the brand for that resource.

Yeah, I totally get using the RTP in free games, especially when the RTP slapped every time until MZ came out. VX Ace has a god-like OST, and MV has an even better one, especially when you count all the major first party DLC. (Expanded, FES, DS, DS+, and Unite) MV might just have the best OST of all time, no joke. But there is a difference between using the epic VXA/MV RTP music and using something like McLeod with all it's meme tracks. One is one of the best and most well composed OSTs in all of gaming, the other is a database of meme worthy songs that rarely if even fit into a video-game format. They're mainly meant for YouTube video background music, not for a game's OST.

What about the image text? Did it say "Slime sprites taken/ripped from Slime Rancher", or like detail? If it was still on the queue, you wouldn't have comments, and pull something like this, where it's noted in the comments where the rip(s) are from.

No, don't say it should be obvious where it is from. I don't care, and maybe whoever it was that was on queue duty that day (Liberty?) didn't either.
Say where/who your stuff is from if it's not yours!

*Edit: Sorry, proper accreditation is a pet-peeve of mine. I'd rather not another "Holy Plains" incident.

I usually credit everything I included in the game's actual credits, but recently I usually include a documentation on my gamepage that lists the credits for everything. I should probably do better with that sort of thing in the future, like listing rips used in screenshots like you suggested.

I don't pretend to know the precise circumstances of the denial of the specific game you mentioned, but, here's a bit of an except from the rules regarding the use of other people's resources, including rips.

https://rpgmaker.net/submission_rules/
So long as you do not claim or imply that someone else's graphics are your own, it is not considered plagiarism at this site. However, using someone else's graphics against their wishes is frowned upon and will be dealt with should the creator object.
*Edit: I think I recall, back in the day, of this craptastrophe. Basically, somebody, attempted to make a remaster/remake of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, branding it as being backed by Square-Enix (no-surprise-spoiler: it wasn't), and using a combat engine they never had permission to use, and never credited to it's original creator. There is this post from said creator about this, but, I'd rather not dig up more details.

Yeah, that makes sense. Don't want something like that ff mystic quest thing repeated again. So any ripped assets are fine even when they're from an indie dev, as long as the dev is okay with them being used that way? Okay, cool. But why then was I barred from using slime rancher rips with the reason being "not using rips from indie games"? Is there some hidden drama with Slime Rancher that I'm not aware of?

Edit: I couldn't find the original image that caused my game to be initially blocked, so I made a historic recreation. Here is what the image looked like:
