Well, at this rate, most people wouldn't have had much of a chance to play the game in time anyway!
FF7 remake. It's a thing.
I was always against the idea of a remake because I thought they'd screw it up, but god damn, this game looks AMAZING and extremely faithful to the original. The PS1 game is one of my top 3 favorite games ever.
I'm a little disappointed that the first game only covers the opening Midgar section, although I imagine this section will be greatly expanded. The only thing that worries me is that if they continue to expand the game at the same rate, the FF7 remake will consist of like eight games.

Playing as the villain?
The main character of The Way is NOT a good guy. It's debatable whether or not you can call him a villain, but he certainly is from the perspective of other characters.

The Most Stupidest Game Ever - Re-Duhis the original dumb RPG Maker game, and definitely deserves an honorable mention. It's barely playable, unfortunately. There's too much gameplay and it's all bad from lack of effort, as opposed to Chrono Trigger where everything is bad on purpose. The comedy is great though.
Huh. I actually remember liking this game. I should replay it to see how it holds up.
Final Fallacy was another good comedic game from the era. Final Fallacy 2 was actually released a few years ago.

You should check out the game Bob's Big Adventure if you can find it. It's an RPG Maker 2000 game with a similar concept. It's really good. Might provide you with some inspiration!

Quick update. I received a ton of good feedback during the beta, and continue to receive valuable feedback from those who are still beta testing. I am playtesting my game one final time to rebalance many of the enemies. I should be finished with my final playtest relatively soon. After that, I will release the first public version!
To those still playtesting, you can continue to do so after I release the first public version, because I plan to release patches and new versions periodically if needed. I do encourage those who have the beta to upgrade to the newest version once I release it, though!
