Review Vote Guidelines
1/1.5 - so horribile I will not mention it. No one would like this trash.
2/2.5 - bad but with some good qualities or good
but with many bad flaws. Could have been worse and some people may like it anyway.
3/3.5 - from decent to good games. This is what I normally expect: entertainment. Some people may like it more, others less but it's ok!
4/4.5 - exceeded my expectations. These are must play for everyone.
5 - Rpgmaker Nirvana

Oscar's Mid-Life Crisis VX Review

author=seacliff217
Thanks for the review!

Outside of maybe finer-tuned balancing, the game ended up beginning exactly how I envisioned it when I started. So I'm glad it's being reviewed for what it is.

Cool.
It's very old style but I liked some events and well...
so much nostalgiaaaaaa!

The Lonely League Review

Thank you so much for this review!
I'm happy to know your initial positive impression didn't change after playing the entire thing.

I know the difficulty part has its ups and downs, but it's super hard to balance a game with no levels. I see a trend in modern SRPGs not only to use levels but also level caps so players will always be in the right level in battles, which is, in my opinion, a coward/lazy way to balance things. I put a lot of effort in battles, and though sometimes it may seem unbalanced, I noticed some battles are easy for some players and hard for others, so I guess it's more of a specific build/strategy issue than a general game difficulty thing.

Also, I love your self-insert edits!

Concerning the difficulty you will be happy to know that I'm struggling in the endgame part! Not even Mr. Burger (as I like calling him lol) battle was so tough (actually in my 4th try I even humiliated him hitting him with Lennon... that dodged his counterattack!).

I admit I actually missed some nice skills I saw but they were pricey in terms of Xp, I should have done some more grind!

Anyway I should have printed the lyrics of the concert song... I did it purpousely awful! :D

Ahaha concerning the self inserts I originally had a better idea (but no time for tha)t: a comic-like screen (like in game) with the return of "I want game!" but inside Wayne's mansion (at the dinner) with Batman answering "It's already released!". Lol.

Oh my gosh! I finally figured out the code for the sewer! I was able to complete this. Not sure if it's really completed though after fixing the hot water...
I even beat the guy in the 1st round of the Pong championship..
Is that the end?

NOPE! You beat half of the game anyway!
Later you have to do a boat trip (goto the beach and find Rain) and then a mission at the local restaurant (that was closed but now the door looks open) before getting the ending. I played this game on this afternoon since I totally missed it before! :D

Full game next week!

Yesssss! It is time!

Thank you, man.
Much appreciated as always. {:

Yes, the shaking of the screen without any enemy is a bug.
Thanks for finding it.

Have a nice one (^:

Yay! Is this related to Swans in the Wallow?
due to the mirrors thing
anyway I will have to try the first one someday

From more modern games I liked:Villnoire (it has one puzzle but I found it very easy), Tales of Yuria 1(and sequel), Moonsong First Verse or Born Under the Rain

.
Can you point me to a walkthrough for Villnoire that explains how to do the puzzle?

Edit: Also, I'm trying out Tales of Yuria 1, I don't find it all that funny, but it's very entertaining. The problem is that I find it to be very confusing to figure out where I need to go next. I tried googling, but I couldn't find a walkthrough. Is there one anywhere?

1- ow good question, the puzzle is just in the final part of the game, while visiting the last dungeon. Basically if I remember correctly it's just about activating some colored plates to open some color coded doors, to tell the truth I was able to solve it just with trial and error.
anyway YES, there is a complete walkthrough of Villnoire: THIS is the part of the puzzle, that's the very last video (as I wrote it's on the last part... btw here you have Villnoire Playthrough, the whole game played out if you need some hints to finish it)

2- concerning Tales of Yuria, while the 2nd game is really linear (a single dungeon to the north), the first one needs to complete a series of separated adventures/dungeons: first is in the ruins to the north, then the forest to the east.... then I can't remember if you have to do the west or south part first (I played it 2 years ago), in any case where you are now?
IF this can help there is a walkthrough on youtube for this game too, if you are stuck Tales of Yuria - the Dragon God Playthrough

hope these can help you!

Oh and last thing: MoonSong, that I mentioned in the other post, IS technically complete, but the story isn't really finished (anyway it's pretty much linear, not too long and has no puzzles... not to mention the protagonist selection, that makes it really unique).

Can you please recommend some great shorter, well paced games on this site?

If you liked Onyx then you HAVE to play the sequel Onyx 2 - Clinging Soul
Or the Chaos series from the same author, Total Chaos and Complete Chaos (they're very Onyx-like). Anyway if you played Onyx, you know that's not really a short game!

From more modern games I liked:Villnoire (it has one puzzle but I found it very easy), Tales of Yuria 1(and sequel), Moonsong First Verse or Born Under the Rain

The Way is a long classic saga, but since it's divided in many episodes it can be considered a series of short games, I guess.

Othello, Exile's Journey or Flip Dimensions are worth mentioning but they're probably a little longer (the last one surely because I played it recently... I cannot confirm the first two since I played them a long time ago!).

Pokemon, The Evil Inside 2 Review

That would help since I gave up on the archived version after the game crashed during the game's first boss fight.

Have you tried installing rmk2000 RTPs? Fire1 is probably among these files.

Dunno if there are more than one kind (rm2k3 has two sets) because I remember also downloading this pack, because I had them installed and also the game from the archive, but no problems with it, so I guess this was the issue.
