Description

It's about time we had another review drive, so hey, let's do this!

Rules
- Write reviews for games that are hosted on the site (they must abide by current review standards).
- Only reviews added to the site over the course of the time period will count.
- There is no limitation to what kinds of games you review, though there is an extra badge if you review more than 5 non-reviewed games.

How to Submit

To enter and receive credit for this event, please do the following:
Step 1: Sign up for the event by clicking "Sign Up" at the top of the user list:

Step 2: Write your review(s), keeping in mind our submission rules. Please make the reviews as insightful and engaging as possible! A member of staff may proofread the review for minor spelling and grammatical faults or inconsistencies.

Step 3: Submit your review(s) to the appropriate game page(s).

Be sure to include your score (if any) and an appropriate title:

Step 4: Wait for the review to be approved. It may take up to a week. You might receive feedback on how to improve your review before approval. If the time elapses before your review is added, I (Liberty) will make a note as to which reviews are still in the queue and count them towards your total when they are accepted. (They must be of proper quality. Spamming the queue with shit/placeholder reviews will see them ignored.)

Step 5: Submit the approved review to this event page by clicking the "submit" button on the top-right corner of the page.

Step 6: Repeat for each qualified review. To receive credit, each review must be submitted to this page by the 1st of March deadline!

Achievements

Badges will be given based on the amount of reviews you complete. Each badge has a set amount necessary to unlock that badge and the more reviews you submit, the better MS you can get. You can gain more than one badge, too, with each badge giving a set amount of MS to add up.
The increments are as follows:

01 Review.. - 05 MS - Quina
03 Reviews - 15 MS - Quina + Eiko
06 Reviews - 25 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant
09 Reviews - 35 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya
12 Reviews - 45 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner
15 Reviews - 55 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner + Garnet
20 Reviews - 85 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner + Garnet + Zidane

If 5 of those reviews are from games that didn't have a review BEFORE the event, then you will get a special Vivi badge worth 20 MS.
(If two people review the same reviewless game, they will both count as long as the game didn't have a review before the event officially began.)

Petition to increase event period to two weeks? Anyone?

Heck, either way, I'm in! It's about time I hit the 3k mark.

Petition to increase event period to two weeks? Anyone?

/petition signed

The goal is simply impossible for the time-frame set, for the rewards given (10 ms, really?), and the range of participation and amount of time to spend seen in previous review events..
Let's say 2 hours time per review (including playtime), that's 40 hours to actively free and use during one single week. Many aren't working that much!

Honestly. I feel like not bothering at all.
And don't pull the "But you don't have to shoot for the top tier!" shit, it's like saying microtransactions are not doing anything to games just because you don't have to use them.
09 reviews - 5 MS - Freya

RIP my participation in this event

Also someone should alert Pizza about this. I'm sure he'd love a Freya achievement.

I'm almost certain that Liberty themed this event around FF9 because I was joking about a Freya badge on Slack. Hell, I even told her to use the Record Keeper sprites for the page. So don't worry, I know about it.

I really wouldn't worry too much about the reward tiers, honestly, just submit reviews and have some friendly competition/fun.
That is exactly what I meant. The psychological effect is always there, and the achievments are forming a frame of what you are shooting for, or what you can achieve during the time regardless of what you choose to do.
Ignoring the achievment is what it ultimately comes down to if you want to take any part, but it is annoying to ignore, and the opposite goal of what achievments are supposed to do. They should add fun to an event.

I am calm now, but sorry to say, this is the equivalent of putting an unbeatable boss somewhere in your game you can't beat even with highest level, perfect equipment and battle planning. There simply is no reason for it to exist.
I have never seen anyone consider this as a viable option, either.

You should be able to do it if you have time and the will to do it. (without killing yourself in the process)

It's fine if you choose to not do it, it's no fun if you have no choice in the matter.
Fact is, I will have some time on my hands. I might be able to actually make it .. maybe.. if only by half tricksing. I like to go all in or leave things be, and I love achievment hunting.
But actually doing it in this case - even if I could pull it off - means torturing myself beyond measure, putting many many wonderful things off and that simply because the scope is unreasonable.
It is puzzling to me why it was set up like this in the first place when noone is even supposed to be able to achieve it.
And here I know I potentially, maybe, could. And that possibility is forfeit and just makes it even worse, as torturing myself for long periods of time is a horrible thing to do.

It just spoils a lot fun of doing it either way. And all the fun would be so much more fun.
I find this a good time to review some games I found pretty interesting!

Onward towards the reviews!

Damnit, and right after I submit my first review in forever. Can I please use my AEI review for this event?

Yeah, I'll count it.

And he knows.

Well, technically the time limit is a week and a day. And unlike the last event, you get each badge you reach (so you can come out of this with all the badges if you do 20). Also, you didn't get each badge's MS amount to add up, so let's say you get 9 reviews, with 50 MS per review already, you'll have 475 MS. It's an additive effect - there's a total of 55 MS to get, not just 5. I'll admit that I had some trouble figuring out reward levels, though, and might boost them a little (it'll be like, 5 extra MS per badge if I do.)

I might extend it a little time-frame wise, but don't feel like you have to reach Zidane levels. We just have another event planned for the week this ends, so I didn't want them to cross over too much (they already overlap by two days) but fine, I'll make it til the end of that week (the Friday) which will make it one day shy of two weeks.
I'm a little slow tonight, so I need clarification.

Is this how the Badges are tabulated?
Review 1 - Quina
Review 2 - (nothing)
Review 3 - Eiko
Review 4 - (nothing)
Review 5 - (nothing)
Review 6 - Amarant
Review 7 - (nothing)
etc...

Yeah, I'll count it.

Well then surely my review, for the same game, submitted the very next day, should also count! Right? Riiiight?
Yes, that's fine. Look at the time stamps, btw - it's started~

@Dyhalto: Yup.
If you write only one Review you get 5 MS and the Quina badge.
If you write at least three reviews you will get 15 MS and Quina + Eiko
If you write at least six reviews you will get 25 MS and Quina + Eiko + Amarant
If you write at least nine reviews you will get 35 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya
If you write at least twelve reviews you will get 45 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner
If you write at least fifteen reviews you will get 55 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner + Garnet
If you write at least twenty reviews you will get - 85 MS - Quina + Eiko + Amarant + Freya + Steiner + Garnet + Zidane

And the possibility of netting Vivi if 5 of those reviews are from games that didn't have a review BEFORE the event. (So that if two people review the same reviewless game, they won't miss out.)

Any amount between two badges will net you the lower badge (for example, if you write 7 reviews, you will receive the badges for Eiko, Quina and Amarant and get 25 MS).
Okay, so Reviews #2, #4, #5, and the rest of the between-badge ones yield nothing but their usual 50 MS? That kinda blows :(

I wonder if anybody will muster 10 reviews, let alone 20...
They get the badge before it. There does that make it crystal balls clear now? -_-
Also, I did add more time to the end of it, geez.
We're dumb in Canada, Libby. Just ask kentona. He'll vouch for us. I know he will.

Oh, ffs. Didn't notice the signs. Well, that explains EVERYTHING.
Been meaning to review some games for a while now, new PC so maybe this'll get me in the mood to get back to work on my own. Already sent one off this morning!
It's okay, I just rewrote it to hopefully make it much clearer. Basically, if you write enough reviews to get past one 'rank' then you'll get that many badges until you pass the next 'rank'.

If you write 13 reviews, you'll get the badges applicable for writing 12 reviews (and if 5 of those reviews were from unrated games, you'll also get Vivi's badge).

Yes, that's fine.

Solitayre used SLIPPERY SLOPE!

It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!
Yay :D The Zidane badge isn't impossible anymore. Just improbable.

Who else is going to be playing a lot of 5-minute games? *high fives all around*
Liberty writes 2-line reviews that automatically bypass the queue because she's special.

It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!

And cheating I won't really do that.

Well, then my review for Teddy Bear Tyrannizer should count as well since it was submitted after Solitayre's review for An Earthly Inheritance.
